How to read a dvdrip file

Hello,
I can't seem to play a movie recently downloaded as a DVDRip, can someone help me?
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

    A DVDrip is a capture of a video from a DVD, so your file is converted to DivX, MPEG, or another format.
    VLC media player is indeed a good software for playing videos.

    At first glance, I would say that you need codecs that you can find on telecharger.com

    Otherwise, try another software --> VLC.exe

    What is the extension of your movie?
    Have you tried to open it with VLC?
