French flag on the Finder bar

Hello everyone!
So here I am wondering how I can remove the French flag that has appeared on my finder taskbar. It appeared when I opened the special characters by going to Edit then Special Characters... I have nothing against France, quite the contrary, it's just that it looks cluttered on the taskbar. Thank you in advance for your help!
Configuration: Mac OS X Firefox 3.0.1

    hi,
    in system prefs -> international -> input menu
    uncheck the French flag ;-)

      To add or remove the flag from your Finder menu bar in El Capitan:

      - System Preferences - Keyboard tab - Input Sources tab -
      - Check or uncheck Show Input menu in menu bar.
