Hello everyone (I don't think this is the right forum, but oh well...)

I have a coin, but I don't know how to determine its value. It looks like a 2-euro coin; on one side, there's a guy with glasses, and he appears to be Asian—maybe an ancient emperor, but I'm not sure.
On the other side, there are elephants in the foreground, perhaps representing India, and in the background, there seems to be a type of temple, or at least I think so; it's so small...

If you can't help me further, could you tell me which website I could visit to do some research?

Thank you in advance.

Good evening, this coin indeed comes from Thailand; it is a 10 satang coin from 2539 (1996) that commemorates the 50th anniversary of King Rama IX's reign.

Hello, this 2 euro coin has one side with an Asian person wearing glasses and the other side with a temple, has no value, it's a fake coin. On Google, type fake 2 euro coin with a temple and an Asian person, and you'll get your answer... Asian countries are not part of Europe... I hope I have answered your question correctly.

Attention scam!!! My daughter got fooled; she was given change at a supermarket in Mont de Marsan in the Landes 40, and this coin was part of it
After some research on the internet, it turns out to be a Thai coin worth 10 baht, which is 0.20 euros, so check your change.

      Hello,

My father gave me a coin or a medal and I would like to know its origin; perhaps you could help me?
      If so, thank you!

So, I will describe what it looks like:

First of all, there is no value inscribed on it. The only numbers are a date: 1739.
On the face where the date is inscribed, there are 2 crowned lions standing facing forward, holding a shield representing a lion in profile armed with a sword. The shield is also crowned. Below this illustration, there are 3 letters written: O, V, and C.

Around the edge of the same face, it says: CRESCUNT 1739 CONDORDIA
      then: RES PARVAE

On the 2nd face, a knight in armor - on his mount - is depicted, brandishing a sword (like the lion). Just below, there is a crowned shield with a lion inside (a bit like the Peugeot logo).

Around the edge of this face, it says: MON:FOED:BELG:PRO:HOLL:IN USUMSOCIET:IND:ORIENT.

And finally, there are oblique stripes on the edge.

The object seems really old to me. If you had any information that could help me, that would be great!

      Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
It would be best to find a numismatic site to ask your question; you will have a much better chance of getting a response because this is mainly a computer site after all.
    Have a nice day

    Hello,

I just started the same research on this coin today.

In my opinion, it is a coin from Thailand featuring the effigy of the current king Bhumibol Adulyadej.

I don't know its value, but it is a coin in baht.

Good evening and best of luck with your research.

The coin is worth nothing, I had 2 and I sold 1 for 18 cents to an expert.

In truth, it's 10 Thai baht; I don't know its value in euros, but it can't be worth much.

    Hello,
I have the same piece as you and I'm also looking for its origin. (I don’t see an elephant but it must be the same).
If you happen to find out where it came from, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.
I will do the same if I find out.

    Thank you

      Hello
regarding your piece, it is about King RAMA 9 currently in power in the Kingdom of SIAM
for its value one euro equals 46 bahts so 10 bahts equal 4.6 cents in euros. WCKI

Well, well, well... I have the same one and I also mistook it for a two-euro coin.
I had to do some research before arriving at this site.
Could we think of a circulation of a coin similar to the two-euro one that's worth much less???
A bit like counterfeit money, except that this one is the real deal!
I got it in Belgium, what about you?
Who knows, we might be discovering a great scam!!!!!

This "scam" has been known since the introduction of the 2€ coins. The automatic machines are sensitive enough to detect the difference.
Particularity: the 2€ coin is magnetic, while the 10 bath coin is non-magnetic.

The 10 bath coin predates the 2€ coin, so before screaming about Thai counterfeits or fake money, one should rather know the origin of the 2€ coin...
