dBASE III+

Question

Hello,

Yes, I'm still using dBASEIII+ on a nightclub management application I developed 25 years ago... This application ran under DOS, then under Windows 95, 98, ME, and XP without any issues.
I just switched to Vista, and now something strange is happening: I am of course using azerty, but when I launch this application, the keyboard switches to Qwerty!!
Under DOS (after launching cmd.exe), the keyboard is azerty, and as soon as I am in my application, it switches to qwerty!
In DOS, switching from azerty to qwerty and vice versa works fine with the Alt+Shift combination, but nothing to do in dBASE III+, it's qwerty.
Is there an old dBASE III+ programmer among you who might have a solution to my problem? I really don't want to redo everything in Access.

Solution :

As an administrator, add the line :

KB16 FR

in the file c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt

Try some links on http://developpement.db.free.fr/ instead of access

I’m in the same situation and I want to make sure I’m doing the right thing to correct the autoexec.nt file under Vista

where should I place "KB16 FR" since the file has a lot of comment lines (with rem)?
should I use Notepad as the editor?

I have another issue to submit
I was asked to reduce a database that I had, a long time ago, programmed and compiled with Clipper
Unfortunately, I no longer have dBase 3+ because I never thought I would dive back into it

I tried opening it with Excel and deleting some data, but when I save it, still as dbf, I encounter issues with indexing under Clipper

does anyone have a "light" version of dBase 3+ so I can work on it like in the good old days

Hello Alain  On Windows 7 64 bit, it doesn't work: installing a virtual machine.  In 32 bit, it works pretty poorly, it's better to use Clipper (5.2 OK)  Bernard
