Good evening everyone!
I just bought a Yamaha PSR E413 arranger keyboard and I'm having a little problem when I want to transfer my recorded songs from the keyboard to the PC. To establish the connection, I connect via USB and I have installed the driver for the USB connection as well as "musicsoft downloader".
My PC recognizes the keyboard when it is plugged in, but when I want to use musicsoft downloader to transfer my files, an error message appears telling me that it is impossible to communicate with the instrument.
I then check the connection and I notice that there is a connection failure when I run the test for "microsoft GS wavetable synthesizer" and that of "microsoft midi mapper".
So, after that, I don't know what to do.
I hope you can help me.
Thank you!!

Re hello,
I managed to connect my digital piano to "MusicSoft Downloader 5" by simply changing the USB cable.

Me too, I have the same model as you, it does the same thing, but I guess you have to put the CD in.
I have exactly the same synth
Except for this quite significant problem, I recommend it to you "sefou"
I had the same problem as you "MULDERER":
At first, I had it installed on a USB port in the front
And the fact of reinstalling it on a USB port on the motherboard (at the back of the PC) solved the problem for me
I still had to follow the instructions from "RLburnside":
When you launch Musicsoft Downloader and choose "Transfer files between your computer and your Yamaha instrument" you need to click at the very bottom of the window on "Check connection"
And there you have to set it up correctly by checking each time until it’s good..
Now, I still find myself in the same situation as "RLburnside", that is to say I have no idea how to read the music created from my synth on my PC, I have a DUB file... and that's it...
How does it work? :)
Help us !! :)

Hi Filorap!!
I haven't found a solution for transferring a sound recorded from the piano => to the PC...
In the meantime, I've started working on Reason... And you'll understand that it allowed me to bypass the problem.
I still regret not being able to find the solution because there are so many instruments in the piano that I can't find on Reason... well, whatever.
I'm quite disappointed with the piano on this front...

I don't know exactly, but by checking the connection you can access an input/output choice, just pick the right one and it works. However, when importing the file from the synth, I end up with a .BUP extension, and the manual stops there without telling us how to read this thing :) if someone had a solution!
Hi
I just wanted to know what you think about this synth that I'm planning to buy soon
just to get your opinion.
Thanks
Séb

Hello,
I also have this connection problem with Musicsoft Downloader,
I run the connection verification and no matter how much I try all the settings, nothing works!
If someone could explain to me exactly how they did it, please
thank you

Hello,
I also have the same problem. I have a "PSR-E423", with the provided driver, when I click on "Send All Note ON" from my PC, a note (D) is played on my piano, so the connection is good. However, with "MusicSoft Downloader 5" under "Electronic Musical Instrument," there is nothing, and it tells me that communication is impossible. I try with all possible inputs and outputs, but after evaluation, it's still a failure.

Yes, I had the same problem with connecting my USB key (related to a MIDI cable) to my PC (Vista). After plugging it into the back of my PC, it says it's ready to use.
However, once I try to connect my keyboard (Yamaha Psr 400) to Fruity Loops and attempt to play sound... it doesn't work. I followed the instructions, but when I hit keys on my keyboard, nothing happens... (I switched the input and output), on my adapter there is the "midi" connected and the in light is blinking green..., should it perhaps be on the out???
In Fruity Loops, it reacts like a controller (between the record and play button :o//), it records, but I can't hear anything..., Did I use the wrong cable?
(I didn't receive an installation disc with the cable) and I don't have a sound card.
When I first plugged my USB key,
my computer recognized the device (ADS Instant HDTV PCI)
But it indicated that it couldn't function properly ://, and thus that this device cannot "start"... Do I need to install a driver?? or something that could make it work??....
I've been looking for a solution all day :///
Thanks in advance!!!

I just solved the connection issue between my DGX-620 and my PC. My driver wouldn't install. I went to control panel/system/hardware/device manager and there was a ! next to Portable Grand. I clicked on Portable Grand and then I just had to follow the instructions.
Ah, Vista annoys us all. Vista has a default configuration for MIDI. It may not read MIDI. On the other hand, with XP, there’s no problem with the USB installation for the E413.
On XP, uninstall and then reinstall the Yamaha keyboard:
- Plug in the E413 and press the on button
- Insert the CD, the installation will occur automatically
- Then install the MSD (found in the driver CD)
I used Sonar 6 (Cakewalk) and it’s the "pro" arrangement, and yet I’m just an amateur
So change your operating system if you can, XP or Seven
Vista will tire you out
Bye
