Hello everyone,

Here, I have a problem with my computer.. Yesterday morning I turned it on and it tells me Disk read error.. So I tried by inserting the WINDOWS XP HOMEPRO edition CD to repair and run a chkdsk and chkdsk /r.

But now when I restart it, it gives me the following message:

BOOT.INI file not valid
starting from.
I/O error accessing the boot sector file
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(%u)\BOOTSECT.DOS

I’ve looked around in forums but I didn’t see anyone talking about the same error…. there are similar ones to something near it but not wanting to worsen the situation, I’d like personalized advice..

This is a cry for help.. lol.

If anyone can help, that would be really kind..

      Hi and thanks for the link... I followed the instructions to the letter and I still get the same error message. What I don’t understand is the association of the missing BOOT.INI file and Error I/O access to the boot sector file multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(%u)\BOOTSECT.DOS which I don’t understand I think my hard drive is severely damaged, it had crashed a few months ago.. And now with the heat it couldn't handle it.. There you go, I’m still waiting for help... I’m also looking on my side.. Thank you!!

    Hi,

    have you tried to repair boot.ini from the console with this command > bootcfg /rebuild
    --

    the druid without the potion.

      Hello,

      Yes I did this manipulation but it didn’t work..

      So, in anticipation of a potential crash.. I hadn't saved anything on C: but everything on an external hard drive and well, I formatted and reinstalled Windows.. it's easier..

    the bootsect.dos is created by a disk with multiple OS
    Do you have a double boot?
