Hello,
I think I made a mistake because I posted this message in software and drivers, but I think it would be better here

So I have Assassin's Creed on PC, but the problem is that it lags (image freezing when I'm spotted or when I have a quest, very often...) when my Wi-Fi connection is on. Well, you might tell me to just turn off my connection, but the issue is that I'm on MSN and playing online games at the same time, so it's a bit inconvenient...

Thank you for letting me know if there is a program to block the internet connection just for the game, or a way to play while being online.

Well, I’m answering this question:

The game Assassin's Creed constantly updates as long as it's connected to the internet!
The solution has been found: disconnect the connection.

For those who are experiencing lag, just get a graphics card that is equal to or better than 256MB DDR2.
A GeForce 8600 GT should be more than sufficient, and it costs around €80.
That's far from the price of a PS3!!

For those who don't want to be tricked into buying graphics cards, get the new ones: GeForce 250, 260, 270.

They are the best, but they cost around €200.

I run Assassin's Creed with:

Intel Quad Core: 3.6GHz
GeForce 9800 GT
2GB of RAM
XP Home Edition SP3

Aside from the quad-core which is expensive, everything else is affordable ^^ and allows access to many games!
-Crysis on high
-Assassin's Creed on max
-Battlefield Bad Company 2 on max
-Bioshock 1 and 2 on max!!

HI,

I have the same problem too, the image freezes when I attack a guard, pick up a flag or stuff like that.
It also stops for about 10-15 seconds..... And it's really annoying to play with that, I've never had a smooth fight....
I lowered the graphic display options but that doesn't change anything....
And I definitely meet the minimum required configuration..

So I have another problem than you ^^
My game lags for 10-15 seconds just like you, even with my internet connection. The game on maximum and minimum settings doesn't change anything.
The only thing that changed is when I placed my mother's fan blowing into the case; it made a difference.

Yet :/ with speedfan (software for temperature monitoring), no temperature is changing...

Anyway, I don’t understand; I hope it will be resolved in the second one....

Well, I can't give a clear and precise explanation (I was explained, but I don't remember ^^), when the internet connection is plugged in, the game does something online at the same time (what exactly it does, I can't remember, if someone knows it would help ^^). To fix the problem, you just need to turn off the internet. This concerns the freezing for 15-30 seconds with each status change (combat/passive, etc.).

I'm writing to you because I also have a lag problem with Assassin's Creed... I turned off the internet but it doesn't change anything.
In fact, I find it strange because when I launched the game for the first time, I got a message saying that I had an optimal setup to play it. Cool. And then I went to the site "Can you run it" to be even more sure and they also said it was optimal.
Except that when I get into the game, it's super laggy, and even with the lowest graphics settings, it's not quite smooth...
My setup:

Windows XP Media Center 2005
AMD Athlon X2 5000+ 2.6 GHz
2 GB of RAM
Nvidia Geforce 7300 LE

I've seen on other forums that my graphics card is, to put it politely, "of low quality"... Do you think the problem comes from that?
PS: I've updated the drivers for the graphics card and the processor.

I'm writing to you because I don't understand how this game can lag on my computer. I just received Assassin's Creed II and I have a pretty powerful setup it seems:
-Windows 7 Pro 64Bit
-Intel Dual Core i5 450M Processor
-NVIDIA GEFORCE 310M Graphics Card
-8GB of RAM

I'm launching the game for the first time, and I'm disappointed to see that 1. the dialogue and images are not synchronized properly and 2. the visuals stutter and are not necessarily perfectly smooth. However, I have checked that the graphics options are set to maximum.
