HDMI issues with PS3 + Bravia

Question

Hello everyone, I purchased a full HD Sony Bravia KDL 40 V3000 LCD screen yesterday.
I have a budget HDMI cable, and I'm connecting my PS3, but nothing happens. When I connect it via Peritel, it displays properly. I go to display settings, switch to HDMI, then I go to AV4 HDMI1, and still nothing appears. I've tried everything, including connecting just the HDMI and turning on the console by holding the I/O button for 10 seconds, but still nothing—just a black screen! Please, I'm really frustrated because this LCD cost me a lot.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

I have a solution, I had the same problem and it’s enough to:

1 - turn on your HD TV

2 - turn on the PlayStation with the connected HDMI

3 - if your TV doesn’t display anything, unplug the HDMI cable from the PlayStation

4 - wait about thirty seconds then reconnect the HDMI cable

this will force the PlayStation to redetect the HDMI.. repeat this as many times as necessary

when you reconnect your cable, press left and cross on the controller to confirm the HDMI display even if nothing is showing.

it seems this happens on the new PlayStations, let us know if it works ;)

Hello, I also have this problem, I have the latest PS3 and a Sony Bravia model 40XBR5. I bought an HDMI 1.3 cable yesterday and nothing works, the TV shows nothing, whether I'm using a component cable or HDMI. Sometimes I get a black and white display from the PlayStation with the image jumping.

I don't know if it's the HDMI port on the PlayStation that's faulty, but I don't think so since I've had it for 10 days.

Is there a way to make the TV scan all its ports?

Try this.
I turn on my PS3 and press the Sync Menu (TV remote)... This will synchronize the TV with the PS3 to establish the connection between the two. In my case, that was the problem and it still happens that I have to synchronize it even when I've already done it. (Which is really frustrating)

Hello,
Here is my little story that reflects your cases well.
As a happy owner of a Bravia KDL-40W5500 TV for 3 months, I had nothing to report until yesterday.
I use HDMI to connect my PS3 (fat) in order to make the most of my console, which had been working perfectly until then. Yesterday morning, I started everything up and.........no sound, no picture.
Until now, when switching to my HDMI input at the moment the console started, the resolution (1080p) being used by the PS3 would display, and it would switch to 560p or something else in game mode.........normal, right?
But now, on my HDMI input, no indication of the resolution appears, not even for a brief moment. I conclude that no signal is reaching the HDMI input.
Just to be sure, I changed the HDMI cable, but it makes no difference, still the same. I then switched my PS3 back to the SCART while keeping my HDMI connected, and the console does detect HDMI equipment, but nothing can be displayed via this input. I then decide to configure my output via SCART, and I have two resolution options, PAL or 560p. PAL works, but in 560p, nothing.........
So I start to wonder, does my television have a problem (hardware or software) preventing it from switching to the correct resolution????

Just to be safe, I will test my console at my neighbor's to rule that out before calling the customer service of my TV-HIFI dealer.

it's the console settings that remained in SCART
if you change it later to put it on an HD TV

the console is in SCART it doesn't pick up a normal HDMI cable too powerful not the same signal
and similarly the other way around if you're in HDMI to switch to SCART the SCART cable can't handle it

here's the procedure

turn off the console or put it in sleep mode
and turn it back on by pressing the PS button for 6-7 sec

it resets the settings to zero

j'ai le même problème et pourtant pas plus tard que hier soir ça marchait très bien. Ce matin, j'ouvre la télé et mon PS3, rien ne fonctionne, pourtant le son est là et le truc d'appuyer 10s ça ne marche pas, que faire ?

Well, I finally managed to succeed. I had to reboot the console (PS3) in 576p via SCART since I could see everything. I went
to settings/display settings/full RGB range and set it to full
then went to settings/video output settings/choose HDMI. After that, it asks you to customize or select automatic; choose customize and check 576p (already pre-checked), 720p, and 1080i. For me, checking 1080p led to the black screen issue, but with just these three checked, it works perfectly. ^^ Oh, and don't forget to switch back to HDMI in between because 576p via SCART is on channel AVG1 and not HDMI.
