Hello,

Can the MATSHITACD-RW CW-8221 reader in the MacBook burn DVDs because I bought a Philips DVD+R and it rejects it, so do I need a DVD-R instead? I’m using Toast 6 Titanium to burn.

Thanks in advance.
Configuration: Mac OS X Safari 525.18

    Hello,

Go to the Apple menu / About This Mac, then click the "More Info…" button, then in the Hardware tab click "Burning" and finally in the right part of the window, the system tells you exactly what your drive - burner is capable of.

    Best regards

    Hello,

    Here’s Fabio’s intervention from here:
MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8221, in a MacBook. It is used as a DVD/CD-ROM combo drive in Core 2 Duo and Core Duo systems
it does not read the disc
This drive is known to have problems reading burned discs

So it is only a CD writer/reader drive.

    Best regards.

Hello, I came across this post by chance. I also have a MacBook with a MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8221. My question:

Can I read DVD+RW and -RW discs burned from Windows? I tried to burn the Ubuntu 12.04 ISO image via Windows onto a DVD+RW, but when I insert the DVD, it is immediately ejected by my MacBook.

    Thank you,

    Gorosk
