Once it turns on, it's "restarted," the brightness is at the minimum, the date is reset to 0 (it shows 01/01), and the time is also reset (it shows 00:00). Well, I'm not really sure about that; it could also be that you left it on the charger for too long like some remote-controlled cars.

Just a small clarification as the photos shown in the link are of the original DS and not the DS Lite, so it's not the same PCB and not the same location for the fuses.
