Transparent background Paint Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

Wishing to create some t-shirts online, I'm modifying some images or texts using Paint, but I can't seem to get a transparent background. How can I do that?

The issue is that on t-shirt creation sites, if the text has a white background and the t-shirt is black, you end up with a white rectangle on a black background... whereas I simply want my text, hence the transparent background! :P

I've searched, tried, but to no avail...

Use Paint.net and you won't have any more problems. It is free and very comprehensive compared to regular Paint.

You won't be able to do it with paint, use the gimp (free) or PhotoFiltre then go to file>New, enter your image dimensions and choose transparent in the "fill with" section. Paste your image and erase your background with the eraser, or by making a selection and then deleting...
When you save your image, choose the gimp format or .PNG to keep the transparency

It should be noted that Paint's PNG format is misleading as it does not support transparency ^^ Azeaze mentioned Gimp, but there is also Photoshop, which is the most used but unfortunately paid.

Don't try to make transparency with Paint, it doesn't handle it! Instead, use GIMP for example (free) Azeaze --  Never tell your computer that you're in a hurry!

your thing with paint works,
the key is indeed to properly resize the transparency model so you can later "recolor" the new image.

However, as you mentioned, only GIFs work. Hence, the lower image quality and particularly the colors.
So a tip, if you have a scanner and a pair of scissors and your transparency is for printing afterwards, then do it the old-fashioned way.

with the blending modes?
if the background of your first image is black or white, it can be done, it all depends on your background.
For your information, the "remove color" effect makes white disappear and the overlay mode makes black disappear
After that, you save in whatever format you want, it's not transparency
there you go, I can't tell you more than that :-)
