Hello, I have a scanner "hpscanjet3970", when I scan a document, it comes out with a lot of horizontal lines! What should I do to fix this issue? Thank you in advance
Are the mentioned marks in the direction of the lamp's progression (scanning direction)? Are these marks relatively wide? Are they of variable colors but mostly in yellow, pink/red, or blue tones?
If so, you need to replace the scanner lamp. In other words, replace the device...

Hello,
I had this type of problem with my HP Scanjet 4400c, a multitude of long multicolored lines in the direction of the lamp's movement (mainly pink and yellow). It wasn't the scanner's lamp but the power supply that showed signs of weakness. In fact, it eventually failed. I replaced it with a more powerful one (13.8 Vdc 3 amps) and now it's working perfectly! No more lines at all. So it wasn't the lamp in my case.
Hoping that these few lines can help some people avoid throwing away a scanner that still works perfectly.
