Connection to the test pattern

Hello,
I connected my Windows 98 PC to a Speedtouch Ethernet modem, which is recognized by the PC; however, when I try to connect, the red connection bar on the Orange manager screen stops halfway. When I request diagnostics, the error message is as follows:
"unable to connect to target 629, C51W8 AND E6 16. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
The same modem works correctly with another PC, and I also tried with another cable.
