Looking for games similar to Oblivion!

Hello!

Well, everything is in the title! I’m looking for games in the same vein as Oblivion!
That is, something where you create your own character, where you collect different weapons and armor in the game to gear up! not necessarily medieval but if you know Oblivion you should know what I’m talking about ^^
Because I’ve finished Oblivion and its addons, so I’d like to embark on new adventures!
Although I doubt there are games that equal Oblivion... but let’s just say games in the same style!

Thanks

I played Morrowind, certainly engaging but I still prefer Oblivion (with a few tweaks added here and there that give a richer experience with more hours of gameplay). The Witcher is in the same genre but doesn’t resemble the Elder Scrolls, certainly friendly with several choice options and thus multiple endings, but its biggest flaw is that the map is limited (each chapter contains a map); modified and remixed with a new sauce and with a greater gameplay experience, The Witcher 2 keeps the same flaw of the map being limited by chapter, I found the second installment to be rather short. Overall, The Witcher and The Witcher 2 are good games. The Gothic series’ sequels resemble Oblivion more but still far from it in terms of environmental richness and quests; the choice system resembles more of The Witcher, albeit it’s also a good game given its gameplay is fairly successful and somewhat resembles Two Worlds (another good game). This latter retains wild expanses or unexplored places empty of quests or items (quite embarrassing if you end up on a barren continent, especially to get back; it takes time with a small sailboat; I’m talking about Two Worlds 2). I preferred Fable 2 to Fable 3 due to the hours of play, but also because of my great disappointment with the latter, as I was expecting a marvelous sequel. But it’s still a good game; its universe is very different from that of Oblivion, firstly due to the nature of the aging main character, the buildings that can be bought, the merchants, etc.—it’s an experience not to be missed despite that. The one that most closely resembles it is really the Fallout series, although the chaotic environment is a bit depressing (a post-apocalyptic game), I loved it; except that the sword to firearms transition didn’t work very well with the game’s camera, but I almost love almost everything Bethesda Softworks edits. Fallout New Vegas is a disappointment for me because I expected an evolution and not to play another Fallout 3; however I think it’s also a good game. Just to say at the end, just like me, I’m still looking for a game similar to Oblivion; for now I don’t know any, and I’d like someone to tell me if there are others besides these fabulous games—I’m a buyer. I have just two tips: you should play all these games (Two Worlds 2, Gothic 4, The Witcher 2, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Fable 3). Otherwise I’m waiting for great games; one will surely be the best of the Elder Scrolls and thus better than Oblivion—it’s "Skyrim" which releases on 11/11/11—and the second (also published by Bethesda Softworks) is ""Rage"" which releases on October 7, 2011 in France (October 4, 2011 in the United States); even if it’s described as a FPS, it’s clearly the same vibe as Fallout and Oblivion. I’m obviously looking forward to other good games but that have nothing to do with Oblivion or the RPG genre. I hope I’ve helped more than one person, and I’m hoping a Samaritan will help me in return.

Well there you go, we now know that Rage has nothing to do with Fallout or Oblivion. ^^

Unfortunately XD I got taken for a ride too, a story too short and a game half-baked, what a pity.

I’m adding another game, Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, which is in the style described earlier: quite immersive, lots of color, medieval fantasy, where you can choose different destinies (specializations, e.g., thief, sorcerer, mage, warrior, etc.) as you gain experience. Several quests that make the game addictive, but I do critique a certain lack of freedom in movement (we do like to jump sometimes ^^), as well as there not being a human capital, only fae and gnomes, etc. Of course it isn’t perfect, but overall it’s a game not to be missed.

According to the images, Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning doesn’t look bad and resembles Fable, but how many hours can you spend on it before finishing? ^^
(I've played Fable 1, 2, and 3; the last one disappointed me a lot because it’s too short)

The number of hours varies depending on the difficulty level you choose; moreover, you can change difficulty during the game. Also, it depends on how you play—just a brute attacking the main quest, or a player who appreciates the finest corners of the world and who relies mainly on, or in parallel with, secondary quests. Personally, in easy mode I completed the main quest and secondary quests (202 in total) in 62 hours 27 minutes because I like to see the details (level 40); otherwise, since I don’t want to miss anything, I restarted in hard mode where it totaled 72 hours 3 minutes with the same pace or almost (203 quests in total) plus some side tasks here and there (level 36). The main quest, if you do it all by yourself, you’ll only gain a few hours depending on your specialty; for a mage it’s around 4 hours 15 minutes for me, a warrior a bit more. There you go; I hope I answered your question, Mr. Gamaal.

Hi, it’s funny to find your message, because the question you’re asking is precisely the one I typed into Google... Because I’m looking too! (though I still have a few oblivion-esque quests to scour)
I don’t know any unfortunately, but a friend showed me a game whose universe seems well-crafted (medieval fantasy) and the graphics as solid as Oblivion: The Witcher
It’s definitely the next one I’ll play.

    Fallout 3! Fallout 3! FALLOUT 3!!! ^^
Fallout 3 and Oblivion IV, both created by Bethesda so it's roughly the same game =p
I'm a fan of Oblivion as well as Fallout 3

    Saalut to everyone

Dragon Age: Origins is really not bad, but it’s true that Fallout 3 comes closest to Oblivion since it’s almost the same game system.

Stop with Dragon Age! Nothing to do with it, we’re guided almost from A to Z... Oblivion is the only game I know where, after 3/4 of an hour to figure out how to escape the prison, you can tour the map and visit whatever you want, at whatever pace you want...

I also asked GG: But which game could take Oblivion’s place in my collection??

I’ll look into Fallout 3, and I’m playing Two Worlds (which, that said, isn’t great at the moment, but I haven’t progressed very far either...) but I’m eagerly awaiting the successor to Moro-Obli.

      Hi
Totally agree with you Darkgilou, it’s the only almost total freedom game. You do the quests in the order you want (magic, sword, brute force, stealth...) and you really get the feeling you’ll never see the end of it. Many possibilities are offered in addition to the banal main quest where you have to save the world from a dreadful ending.
I’m eagerly awaiting Skyrim hoping for a slightly less buggy version with even more immersive details.
In the meantime I drown my despair in Cyrodiil wine ;-)

Which Fallout 3 is the closest to it, but otherwise there’s Two Worlds or Gothic 3.

Without reading the comments I simply reply that... DID YOU FINISH THE OBLIVION MODS?? O.O Well I don’t really believe it, and not at all, because https://forum.wiwiland.net/index.php?act=home and then https://www.confrerie-des-traducteurs.fr/oblivion/, There must be 50,000 French mods in there, and if with that you’re not satisfied https://elderscrolls.bethesda.net/ Skyrim, Bethesda's new monster, coming soon to our hands :) See you later

I finished it in under 10 hours of play... Too short, and, it's a pity actually that they tried so hard to innovate the story, but well, the first one will always be my favorite, however, as a good RPG, there is Neverwinter Nights 2

The Witcher is a good, original universe, but it won’t be as good as Oblivion, by the glory of Akatosh.

Elder Scrolls I, II, III (Morrowind), VI or IIII (yes, both are possible) (Oblivion) and V (Skyrim) form a series, so it’s normal that this game franchise resembles each other.
