Hello,
To enter the codes, you just need to rename your file that launches Half-Life for example:
C:\program files\Valve\half-life\hl.exe
must become
C:\program files\Valve\half-life\hl.exe -dev -console
you just have to rename it! (not the shortcut on your desktop, eh! the .exe in the folder on your PC)
As for activating the console (the console is where you type your cheats), you click on ² (if you have a keyboard ... azerty, so: FRENCH (I know, I know, don't yell at me, I'm keeping it simple) or ~ if you have an AMERICAN keyboard (qwerty)
If you don't know what keyboard you have, look at the first letters of your keyboard: a z e r t y are the first letters of a French keyboard.
To remove the codes, either re-enter the codes, or, for those where a value is requested (like you have to type NOCLIP 1 to walk through walls), you type NOCLIP 0 and it should return to 0...
Moreover, cheats don't ruin the fun of the game... you've finished the game, you want to have fun wandering around secret places (because yes, they exist) or getting close to the G-man, throwing lots of Head-crabs at a horde of scientists, etc. etc.

I forgot a small detail, you need to navigate through the tree structure using command line.

Haha, just a bunch of clueless people in IT, but then again, it's not that advanced! Requests like "where is the ~" — well, it's on your keyboard, you banana! ^^
But I assure you, sometimes there are really funny requests :) I don't read Carambar jokes anymore; I've found something stronger: forum conversations!
Wishing you all the best and a great day!
Don't forget, the god of jokes is watching you!

When you have the console in front of you, you type sv_cheats 1 which will allow you to enter your cheats, e.g., god (invincible), etc... Have fun :)
It's a good thing I'm keeping an eye on my inbox, because it's been a while since I’ve been involved with this issue!
What is your problem?
What is your problem?
I can't activate the codes, I'm useless
What does that mean????
Launch the game using the MS-DOS command: "hl.exe -dev -console". Once in the game menu, click on the console button in the top left and type: SV_CHEATS 1 to activate cheat mode. Then, during the game, press the key ² (AZERTY keyboard) or ~ (QWERTY keyboard) located above the . key. You will be in the console.
Please help me, thank you thank you

Under escape, there is a button, right next to the 1. You click it, then type sv_cheats 1 and enter the commands like impulse 101. And don't forget to leave a space between impulse and 101.
And let's imagine we skip Steam (I can get the little pirate there downloaded without paying).
I found the config, but it doesn't save the changes =D
But I haven't tried leaving the game open and modifying the .cfg while keeping the game open.
And I use the codes when I'm too stuck in a situation, I like to play the game for the story, and having my enjoyment ruined by a spot that blocks me for 2 weeks, that's just not for me :/
Have a good day

This means you need to type the DOS command "hl.exe -dev -console" to access a developer view of the application. But believe me, this is really pointless and only spoils the enriching experience of this game.

I know that the purpose of C codes is not to cheat
I'm stuck at a place very close to the end and I don't understand how to activate an object to continue, it's really annoying
I write the code and that's it, I pass and I deactivate
No idea how to activate MS-DOS anyway
Thank you for the response
More detailed explanation please ???

Hello everyone. I would like to know how to cancel the codes in Half Life?!?
I used the code "noclip" to advance in the level "doubtful ethics" (a bug was preventing the scientists from opening the door with the retinal scan... anyway). I passed through the door, but since then I am floating in the air and passing through everything.
So if you know how to cancel this code, I have only used that one, please let me know ;)
Thank you in advance

Hello, I installed Half-Life Source on Steam but the box where you enter the codes is not appearing. Could you please help me? Reply to me as soon as possible.
Hello, congratulations on the spelling mistakes buddy-wanadoo, but on Steam, you just need to right-click on the game's name, go to properties, then click on launch options and enter: -console
Launch the game and the console (the box where you enter codes) will appear when you press escape in the top left, or it will show up if you press ², which is just below escape
(ps: this also works for most games in the same genre as Half-Life)
To enable cheats, type: sv_cheats 1 (change 1 to 0 to disable cheats)
After entering the above code, you can type the others, here are a few examples:
god 1 (invincibility) remember..... 1 (activates the cheat)....... 0 (deactivates the cheat)
noclip 1 (flying mode and you can pass through walls)
impulse 101 (all weapons plus their ammo)
there you go, happy to help!

I actually came across this last night on the Zero site
First of all, launch HL² or one of its mods.
Go to "options" (or "settings" depending on the language), go to the "keyboard" tab, click on "advanced..." then check "enable developer console ~"
There you go, normally, you should have activated the console, but no! You can still hit the "~" key with a hammer, the console will never appear.
Now, I will tell you how to actually display this console.
Once you have checked "enable developer console ~", quit the game, go to your workstation > C: > Programs Files > Steam > SteamApps > SourceMods [or your username (it depends on the mod)] > [your mod] > cfg.
You will find a file called "config", right-click on it > open with > Notepad.
Look for this line:
Code: Other
1
2
3
4
5
bind "9" "slot9"
bind "`" "toggleconsole"
bind "d" "+moveright"
Do you see the middle line? Toggleconsole is the console. And the letter within the quotes is the letter that activates it; you can put whatever you want.
You cannot use the square (²), this key is inactive in source mods, even if it worked in Half-Life mods.
Once you've set the key you want (I always use the letter "P", you can choose), save (ctrl+S or File > Save) and then close.
Restart your mod, press the key you set in quotes earlier, and there, the console appears like magic!!
Now you can display the console in your source mod; it works exactly the same in every source mod.
And if you have any problems, consult my email address.
So please explain to me.
A big thank you will be appreciated.
And thank you for reading this and responding.
Windows console opens
to go to the Half life directory, use the command "cd"
cd "C:\program files\Valve\half-life"
then
hl.exe -dev -console
(normally that's it when going through the console)
you're welcome =)
