Transform 1 itinerary into a trace in mapsource

Hello everyone.
As a young user of Mapsource, I noticed a very interesting feature: the route function. Just by clicking on the start and end of the path, Mapsource recognizes the trails (which avoids 50 clicks to follow a trail). However, when I use this route my GPS recalculates a new route in case of a detour because it recognizes it as a road and not a track. Therefore, I would like to convert this route into a track in order to have a fixed track, but I'm not sure if it's possible.
Sorry for this somewhat long post, but I wanted to be as clear as possible;
Thank you in advance for your help
Have a good day everyone

Take a look at http://clic0.free.fr/spip.php?article90 (Converting a route into a trace) to see!

Works with Mapsource, a small software that converts routes to tracks and vice versa: WinGDB3

I'm not sure I understand, mapsource is used to plan your routes, so far so good, when performing the actual route the GPS (depending on the model) records not the planned route but the traces of the ride in real time. The predefined route is "followed" by the GPS and on the other hand, it records the actual movement in a "trace" file.
That being said, in general, if the predefined route does not match the modified route (for various reasons), what interests us is to be able to convert the actual route into a GPS route (GXP) so that it can be done again, worked on in mapsource, shared, etc...
If that is the case, then yes it is possible at least on my Garmin (Zumo 550).
Is that the question?

I realize that I wasn't very clear at all. Sorry
with the GPS, we can follow 2 types of routes: a track or a route. With the track, the GPS only shows this track on the map while recording the actual track in parallel. With the "route" journey, the GPS still records the actual track (live) in parallel, always shows the original track on the map, but what is different is that it is always recalculating the most interesting route to go to the next point. So in case of a route error while wandering, the initial path changes.
But the advantage of creating an outing with the "route" mode in mapsource is that it directly recognizes the path you indicate along its entire length, so there's no need to click an infinite number of times to follow a winding path (which is the case in "track" mode).
I would like to create my outings with the "route" mode in mapsource, but save them in "track" mode on my GPS so that it is not constantly recalculating another route than the one I initially decided on.
I should specify that I use an etrex vista hcx if that helps.
There, I hope I was a little clearer this time.
Thank you in advance for your responses

Oops, yes indeed it's clearer, but I don't know how to do it :-(.
The recalculation needs to be specific to your model, as it seems I don't have this issue on my Zumo. Moreover, the Zumo, if I've understood correctly, has an option in the GPS that allows me to disable the recalculation mode, to ask me if I want it to do so every time, or to do it by default.
I know that this option didn't exist initially; it was due to pressure from Garmin users that changes were made at the firmware level.

Hello arnaudpaca06,
Since March 2008, have you received a response to your question?
I also use the etrex vista HCX and am looking for the same process as you, that is, converting a mapsource itinerary into a track.
Thank you- Hello,
My method consists of copying the Google Maps link and pasting it into Google Earth.
In Google Earth, you can see a "route" that can be saved as a .kml file.
Then, just go to the website https://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input
to convert the .kml file into a .gpx file that is compatible with Mapsource.
Safe travels

Maybe by going to this forum, the French-speaking Zumo forum

For the descriptions, please be PRECISE and COMPLETE in describing the problem, it helps us.
Read the charter, it can help you understand "how it works". Madmyke
