Function key not working on ASUS laptop Solved/Closed

Question

Hello, the FN key on my ASUS laptop isn't working anymore.  It was working perfectly fine until yesterday, but as soon as I turned off the computer and turned it back on, it stopped working and I don't understand why.  If someone could help me, that would be really nice.  P.S.: Sorry for all the spelling mistakes.Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello;  I found the solution to the problem with the Fn key: just go to Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, look for the ATK package, select it and click on Repair, and the PC will restart, and there you have it, it worked for me.  Edit: another method:  Press Windows + R, then type services.msc  Right-click on "User Interface Access Device"  Choose "Automatic" as the startup type and restart it.

Could it be more of a hardware issue? Maybe it's just your key that's acting up... Last night I spilled water on my keyboard, and bam, some keys stopped responding (including FN...)  Is there a way to simulate the FN key like with the Windows on-screen keyboard?

Hello everyone  Anta, I also have Seven and I have the same issue, the Fn shortcuts don't work, but I just realized that some do work (screen power fn+F7). I think it's just a matter of time before the update automatically installs the drivers, but I'm not a computer expert ^^   Best regards

Even for Windows 7, you need to install the ATK Hotkey driver You can find all the valid drivers for 7 on this site http://www.croftophile.fr/ (mentioned in previous posts but valid for 7) and here is a suggested order of drivers to install: 1. INF Update 2. IMSM 3. ATK0100 (detected by win7, newer one on Asus site) 4. ATK Generic Function Utility 5. KB Filter 6. ATK Hotkey 7. ATKOSD 8. VGA (detected by win7) newer one at nvidia site 9. LAN (detected by win7) 10. Audio 11. WiFi (detected by win7) 12. Wireless Console 13. Ricoh Card Reader (detected by win7) 14. CMOS Camera 15. Touchpad 16. ITE Remote (install through device manager) 17. ATKMedia 18. Lifeframe 19. P4GX 20. DirectConsole2 21. Hello after installing seven, nothing worked anymore, fn key, webcam, media center, etc...., I just inserted the Asus drivers and utility CD that came with my computer a7sn 005 and reinstalled everything and now everything works wonderfully best regards

Hello,  for my part, I only have the combinations Fn-F10, Fn-F11, and Fn-F12 that no longer work (sound controllers). It happened all of a sudden without warning last week and it's bothering me for certain games. I've tried to look everywhere (= forums) for a solution, but given my level in computer science, I didn't understand anything about what was said. I tried the "Fn/Num Lock" and that didn't work. On my ASUS N71JQ, I pressed Fn+F9 and restored the touchpad, the same for disabling it. My advice is that when you are using a mouse, it's better to disable it. See you later!

Good evening everyone! I had the same problem with my Asus X73SV notebook. The FN key to change the volume stopped working, and before installing some ATK, I started by going to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program > then left-click on "ATK package" (to highlight it), then right-click > and finally click on Repair.
