When one of my old PCs starts up, it shows "Verifying DMI Pool Data..."

What do you think is happening?

Well, despite everything people say about changing the motherboard or anything else, I managed to get around it another way.

At startup, you’ll be prompted to press F12 for "Boot Setup".
Do it, then go to "Hard Disk", and launch the hard drive (first choice in the list). It's been working for me since.

If you can't boot up, check in the BIOS if the USB ports are enabled because the keyboard only works when you are in the BIOS.

A promise made is a promise kept. Here’s the latest news, and it’s not good, for me as well as for those who are going through the same misadventure as I am: "Building dmi pool" with the inability to boot from anything at startup.
The verdict is in. I need a new motherboard (the eprom on mine is "out of order", even when I reset the BIOS by moving the jumper on the board or removing the battery) and a new DDR 400 memory stick (I can't fit in the old SDRAM 133). The cost of the operation: around a hundred euros to keep using my old Athlon 1333.
I know that a company online offers to reprogram eproms for about fifteen euros, but I don’t want to wait for a result that seems unpredictable to me. If some of you attempt the operation, please keep me informed on this forum about your experience, I’m interested. The site is accessible on Google with keywords like "bios" "configure" "repair" (sorry, I've lost the URL of the site).

This question (publication) may be caused by any of the following: corrupted boot files on the computer. The connections for the hard drive are incorrect. Boot devices not properly configured. Corrupted BIOS or misconfigured settings. Loose or disconnected cables. Bad hard drive unit or other faulty hardware. Additional information: See our DMI dictionary definition page for more information on DMI. Solution: corrupted boot files on the computer if the computer has no boot files on the drive it attempts to start from, it is possible that the computer could interrupt "checking DMI pool data...". To resolve this issue (publication): boot from a neglected startup disk. Ensure that this disk was created on the same Microsoft Windows operating system that is installed on your computer. Once at the A: \> prompt, type "sys c:" and press Enter. This should announce the message "System transfer complete." Once the disk has been transferred, reinsert it and restart the computer. If the computer still does not boot...

may be followed by:
* BOOT FROM ... ... DISK FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

1) Check in the boot menu, at startup press Esc, F1, F2, DEL and other keys depending on your hardware, that the boot order of your hardware (boot sequence) is correct. Normally: 1 = hard disk (HDD), 2 = floppy disk, and 3 = CD-ROM.
Try restarting.
2) If not, go to Windows (on the affected computer), open Explorer, insert a blank floppy disk into the drive, right-click on the floppy drive and choose format by checking "Create an MS-DOS startup disk."
3) Restart the computer using this floppy disk, under "A:\" type "sys c:" (without quotes) which will bring your "system" files to the root of your hard disk. Restart.
4) If still not working, do the same, start from the floppy disk and under "A:\" type "fdisk/mbr" (still without quotes). Restart.

* If the computer still does not behave properly, continue to search the web or consult a specialist in a store. Don't forget to share the tip if successful to help those who are struggling for the same reason!

you have a problem either with:
the boot sector
the hard drive
the BIOS or peripherals (settings)
in summary, you have a hardware problem...
DMI handles the organization through a database of all the information regarding the PC and its components.

Salut, j'ai le même problème. En voulant redémarrer mon ordi, ça m'a mis "verifying DMI pool data". Alors réponds-moi au plus vite, s'il te plaît. De plus, j'ai débranché mon ordi et je l'ai rebranché, et c'est toujours pareil. Donc à plus, mec, réponds s'il te plaît.

Hi,

I had a problem with my old PIII 650, I simply went into the setup and restored the default setup configurations => Default Bios or Setup. (usually, in all setups there is an option for that!)

Then the PC restarted normally!

Hi there.
If your operating system is "official," you won't need a boot disk to install it.
Otherwise, you need to go to a friend's place (who has the same operating system as you) and create a boot disk there.

On a purchased version, the boot disk is useless because the boot is available on the installation disk. You just need to boot from the CD-ROM to start the installation (to modify the boot, you must, of course, go into the BIOS).

Hello,
I had the same problem, unable to start: Verifying DMI Pool Data
I took out the hard drive and mounted it as a slave (check the jumper at the back) on another computer (running XP), connected without securing it.
I started the computer, it recognized the slave drive, detected bad sectors, and recovered from critical errors.
I shut down the computer, removed the slave drive, and reinstalled it as the master on the first computer; the restart went smoothly and I recovered everything.

Hello, I had the same problem but that's in the past; I solved it. There are no other solutions; you need to flash the BIOS. It's thanks to this method that I was able to get my PC working. Good luck, I am at your disposal (mail.info2@caramail.com).

Hi guys!
if DMA is Direct Memory Access, is DMI the same as Interrupt (cf IRQ)? That would explain that if we run with two HDDs and the boot sector is modified by the "master" under scandisk: the machine crashes, long live the registry backups to recover everything but = loss of time
