Hello,
Can you explain to me what the ATA/ATAPI IDE controller is used for, what does it control, hard drive, CD drive, floppy disk drive or something else? Thank you for your response.

ATA is for hard drives and ATAPI is for optical drives to be precise.

My hard drive is a SATA. What do you call optical disks? And what does IDE mean? Can you provide me with information?

If you look closely at the word ATA at the very beginning of my previous message, you'll see it's in blue: it's a LINK! =D and you will have everything you need. Optical discs are the discs that are often read by laser, like CDs or DVDs. :)

Sorry, I quickly read your message and didn't notice that the ATA was in blue. Thank you for the information, tonight I will sleep less ignorant. Thanks again and have a good evening.
