Issue with Wireless Console Solved

Question

Hello,

I'm bringing up an unresolved issue here.
On my Asus F3JP, I can't turn on my Wireless Console (it remains OFF). The key combination that allows me to activate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is inactive. At first, I thought it was a user error, but it might be due to a Vista update. My Wi-Fi card is an Intel WM3945ABG.

I also added that I tried reinstalling the Wireless Console driver without success.

Do you have a solution to this problem?

Hello, my problem has been solved. I accidentally pushed a switch on the front of my laptop that activates the Wireless connections. Look closely, you must have one too.

Thank you all for your explanations, it helped me solve my problem. I hadn’t been able to connect to Wi-Fi for a week; the switch must have moved when I put my Asus laptop in its sleeve and after that, nothing. Now it works. You can really find everything on the internet. I’m really unhappy when I can’t connect anymore.  Happy May to everyone.

Me, it's more than that, it's really annoying for me, because I bought a PC, I can connect to the internet, but the Bluetooth doesn't work, I was told it's a manufacturing error, since they only installed half of it, as I still have the icon on my PC for Bluetooth.
So, what should I do to reinstall everything so that Bluetooth and internet work correctly?
Only the Wi-Fi light is on but not the other one
So what should I do, file a claim against the manufacturer or not

I took my laptop to a technician; he removed everything and reformatted it to make it work!! If you want Wi-Fi, no need for wireless! However, if you want Bluetooth, then you need wireless!
And yes, if Wi-Fi is built into your computer, you don't need to add any software to connect to the internet! It's just computer stuffing!
I think everything needs to be reformatted, reset to zero in terms of configurations! That's what I had to do to get the internet back!!!

Yes, the problem is indeed a "front" button, it's located on the right side of the computer next to the audio/headphone outputs!! Thank you all

YES, I say it and I say it again.
I have an Asus notebook X70SR.
I almost hanged myself with the WIFI's thousand whims. I want to prevent others from going so far as to hang themselves.
There is on the side of the computer next to the silver button that serves to close the computer a damn other black button on a black background (!) that operates left and right (like grandpa - grandma) which serves to turn the wifi "on" or "off". You only see it if you think to observe the side of the computer.
I then ask three philosophical questions: (1) why have a wifi on/off button? which cannot be controlled by searching on the computer; (2) why make a barely visible button capable of pushing someone to suicide?; (3) why does ASUS not proclaim the solution so simple?

One more detail: once turned on, you have to restart the computer for it to work and search for network connections.

I hold ASUS responsible for pushing dozens of customers into depression.

Actually, on the side of the laptop, I have a small button to turn the Wi-Fi on and off!!

Hello everyone,

I have the same wifi issue with my ASUS. More specifically, the "switch" button no longer works, whether it's ON or OFF, the translucent message that appears on the screen stays the same: "WIRELESS LAN OFF".

What I can't understand is that it was working fine and suddenly, it just stopped!!!

I updated the driver through the device manager but still nothing. Basically, I'm at a standstill!!!
If anyone has a solution, even an idea...

On the A8J, there are two push buttons above the Bluetooth on/off and WiFi on/off function keys. You can also enable or disable one, the other, or both using the Wireless 2 console, the icon in the taskbar near the clock.

A big thank you, I had this problem yesterday with my ASUS, and thanks to the forum, I found the switch that I accidentally touched. It's really poorly placed, considering the number of people who have been caught out ;-). So, for those who follow: for me it's a sliding switch just under the edge, near the "wireless" indicator.

A little explanation is in order:

It seems that this is actually a malfunction of the WiFi driver (in my case, an Atheros on my Asus N61) which fails to restart when it is mistreated a bit.

To keep it simple, there are two scenarios:
1- when the PC is off or in sleep mode, you have mistakenly set the OFF position on the small side button controlling the activation of the WiFi card (which is located on the right or left side)
2- while in use, you have also set the OFF position or used the Wireless Console 3 shortcut from the taskbar or even used the key combination Fn + F2 (often), and you did not wait long enough to restart the WiFi.

In both cases, just switch it back to ON and restart... The thing to absolutely avoid is changing the position quickly several times in a row; apparently, that messes up the driver and prevents it from going back to ON.

Keep this in mind for next time!

For the always OFF problem on Wireless status for Asus, it's just a question of timing: don't turn your WiFi ON and OFF too fast! If it doesn’t work, make sure the cursor button on the side of your laptop is positioned to ON and restart the computer. It should work fine! Or maybe it’s a driver problem...

On the ASUS N55SF, there is no button but a key combination: Press at the same time: the fn (FUNCTION) key and the F2 key (for the WIFI key)
