Wiring for autocom

Hello,
is the telephone wiring to connect digital/analog terminals to a digital switch (LG Nortel Aria SOHO) required to be done on separate telephone cables end-to-end like for the computer network, or is it possible to use a single cable containing multiple pairs (up to 16) to carry voice to/from the stations?
Will there be interference issues?
Is it possible to use a cat5e cable to connect 4 stations to the switch?

Thank you for your answers...
Configuration: Linux Debian Mozilla 1.8.1.3

    Bonjour

    Merci.

    Hello,
telephone multipair cables are protected against interference, we can power all sockets with the same cable by only connecting the pair dedicated to each socket. The only problem is the connection; at each socket you either cut the cable, which can generate noise when connecting the wires for the next socket, or you strip a section of cable and only cut the concerned pair, but with a high risk of error on the color pairs and injuries on the pairs that continue, making it almost impossible to determine later where the cable is damaged.
The ideal is a semi-star network with multipairs running from the PABX to sub-distributors, then simple cable distributors to each socket or pair of sockets if two stations are on the same desk.
    Good wiring!
    Cheers

Sorry to bring up this very old post, but it’s to reply to myself and share my experience since then with the readers.

The ideal is to use a network cable (cat5, which is still the most common) for each socket from end to end. The benefit is to have standardized sockets that can be used for both telephony and also for computing if a change is needed at some point.

    Hello*
Can we configure the Aria Soho standard with the LPD 7208 or do we need to have the LPD 7224?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
thank you for your response. I forgot to mention that for now there will only be 5 outlets (and a maximum of 8 later) spread over 3 to 4 rooms, so I think the semi-star topology is too much for my needs...
however, I didn't understand your initial suggestion to cut the cable at each outlet... if I cut the cable and not just one pair, how will I run the other pairs to the other outlets?

If I have the option to run a cable with a single pair end-to-end for each socket, is it better?

    Hi,
actually the multi-pair cable can be stripped for 10 cm at each outlet and on all the pairs so that only the pair affected at the outlet is cut.
But of course the simplest solution remains to run a cable for each outlet with at least 3 pairs to be able to switch pairs in case of a failure due to a break in the length of the wire.
    See you!

Okay, and thanks again for the information... so in summary, it's best to use a dedicated cable for each outlet.

It's mainly simpler to avoid getting the wrong extension number!

    Hello:
Yes, if possible, to run a multi-pair cable for all the stations. However, there is a difference between analog and digital stations, as the analog station only supports one pair and the digital station supports two pairs.
