Hi. I'm a hunting game fan. I recommend:
- The Deer Hunter series: a beautiful game in terms of scenery, but you can only hunt deer. The advantages: you can download new maps, you can also play online, and participate in tournaments. For the more skilled players, you can create your own maps and share them. You can hunt on foot, by boat, or on horseback.
On the other hand, from the same creator as the Deer Hunter series, you have Trophy Hunter 2003, with the same beautiful graphics, except here you can hunt many other animals, not just deer.
- The Hunting Unlimited series. Personally, it's the series I play the least for two main reasons:
1) The game runs very poorly on my PC in the sense that it lags a lot and is unplayable even in a small window.
2) I really dislike the scenery; I don't feel at all in reality, I don't immerse myself in the role of a hunter.
However, I find the earlier games in this series (Hunting Unlimited and Hunting Unlimited 2) much better. When I play Hunting Unlimited, I almost always play the second one in the series: beautiful scenery, well-made sound effects, but no hunting by boat or horseback in this version; you have that in HU 3 and later versions. Personally, I don't like HU 3 and the rest of the series, but that's just my opinion.
- The Cabelas series. A series of many hunting games, sometimes themed. You have the regular game Cabelas Big Game Hunter, with several versions over the years, and themed games like Cabelas African Safari (only hunting in Africa); Cabelas Alaskan Adventures (hunting in Alaska and northern Canada), Cabelas Dangerous 1 and 2 (dangerous hunts in various places).
I really like the scenery; it's very different from Deer Hunter, but it's up to each person to decide which hunting game they feel most immersed in. Personally, I love the Cabelas series, and I haven’t tried them all yet. You could start with Cabelas Big Game Hunter 2006, which is quite good, then the 2009 version, which is also well done but a bit special. What's great is that, as I mentioned, there are themed games, like Africa, Alaska. The graphics are beautiful because the designers could "focus" on one country and therefore work on the scenery well. Unlike some games that offer all countries but don't do it well. You can also try the Cabelas Dangerous Hunt and CDH2, which are really good. They're all about dangerous hunts in various countries. In Cabelas, you generally have hunting missions to complete, while in the other series, it's free hunting.
So that's the three series I know best. Deer Hunter is honestly excellent; I started with that one. Hunting Unlimited doesn’t appeal to me at all, but give it a try anyway. As for Cabelas, you should have a great time...
Finally, I might direct you to this link www.thehunter.com, a new ultra-realistic and free hunting game coming soon. The site is in English.
So, happy gaming!
