Hello everyone.
Since this morning, whenever I try to open the My Computer or go online or do many things, I always get the same message: "This module was compiled with a trial version of Delphi. The trial period has expired" and I only have the choice to click OK. Then nothing happens... Is it a virus? I ran Norton and it didn’t detect anything. Can you help me please? Thank you in advance.
Best regards.

    Re.
I just realized that today is Saint DELPHINE. I don't know if there's a connection, but it's quite significant anyway... Thank you for getting back to me.
    Best regards.

    Hello!

It might be a virus. Is your Norton up to date?
Even if it is, I recommend running an online antivirus scan at http://secuser.com/antivirus
    :)

    hi...

no, I'm leaning more towards a freeware or shareware that uses Delphi libraries (a programming language) and hasn't acquired its license...

check if you haven't installed a program recently and check the programs that start with your PC (msconfig).

    best regards

(Démarrer>Exécuter>msconfig works on all versions of Windows except for Windows 2000 where it must be downloaded from the internet)

But yeah, it's probably the Delphi Media Player that installs automatically with KaZaA.
Uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs, anyway it’s useless.

    Hi
It's probably a shareware or trial version ("this module") that you downloaded a few weeks or months ago (remember....) and that you were allowed to use for free for a certain period, but now
    you have to pay.... ;-)))
    Or let it go.

    Good evening.
    I have followed your advice:
    - did an online scan, nothing;
    - msconfig, nothing that resembles my problem;
    - I cannot find the Delphi Media Player in add/remove programs;
How can I remove it if I can't find it?
Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards.

Hello. It's really nice of you to take care of my problem.
Unfortunately, I don't have Delphin Media Viewer, so I can't get rid of this mess.
Thank you for responding to me.
    Sincerely,
    Patrice

Hello, so I'm saying that I have the same problem. I haven't installed any programs recently and this ... virus prevents me from accessing the hard drives and the control panel so it's impossible to uninstall anything. Msconfig doesn't detect it as a running program so I can't disable it, and I can still burn my data with Nero. My Norton is up to date but nothing, moreover none of the files downloaded via eDonkey had viruses so I'm very surprised to come across this.

So there you go, if you could help us it would be great :D

For your info, my config is: Athlon XP 1800+, 512 SD, 120 GB, XP Pro SP1 with updates applied.

Thanks again to anyone who can help.

    Good evening to you.
I did indeed try SpyBot, but without success.
I don't know what to do anymore...
Will I have to format my hard drive?
    Best regards.

    Hi,
The good explanation, for me, was given by Tower67 in post <4>...
Relhu is exploiting an .exe written and compiled with the Delphi programming language... while the Delphi in question was in trial period... and that trial period has now expired...
We need to find out what this .exe is...
It's an .exe that appears in the startup sequence or is included later in the active processes... Probably a freeware... check with RegCleaner, in the startup and uninstall tabs...

    Good luck and @+

    Hello.
I did what you told me, hooray, but without success (I looked with RegCleaner). Also, I don't know which .exe I'm looking for. I tried all my logs and they all work. I really don't understand anything. Thank you all for your help, in any case. Best regards.

It's nice to have this response, but there is a problem when you don't have English in mind and the dictionary at hand.

      Hello!

Here is what Google gives for the translation of response <20>:

      *********************
Response: This problem occurs because someone used a trial version of the Delphi programming tool to write the software. They then edited this software and it ended up on your computer. Now that that person's trial period of Delphi has expired, the software remains on your computer. Unfortunately, this software appears to be what's called a "shell extension," which is a piece of software that Windows loads and executes every time you click on a folder, open Internet Explorer, and in a few other situations as well. We have been able to determine which program is causing this error, however we are still not quite sure how it finds its way onto customers' computers. Note: If you believe this is an application you shouldn't remove, please use your own judgement about what you should do. To remove this software, open the control panel through the start menu. Some users have reported that the error prevents them from doing this; in that case, you will need to boot your computer in safe mode. To do this, restart the machine and press F8 as it begins to start up. You will be presented with a list of options, one of which is "safe mode." Once you have the control panel open, select "Add/Remove Programs." You will see a list of applications installed on your machine. One of these should be called "CPR." Remove this application using the Add/Remove Programs window, and you should see these errors go away. Users we have spoken to report that this CPR application was not something they intentionally installed, and they reported no negative side effects from removing it. On rare occasions, using Add/Remove Programs is not enough; a reference to this software is still left on the machine and the error will persist. In that case, you will need to manually delete the offending software, and you will need to boot back into safe mode to do this. Once in safe mode, open the start menu and choose "run?" In the run dialog, type "cmd." This will take you to a DOS window. Navigate to c:\windows\system32 as follows: \windows\system32 CD and then delete the folder manually by typing delete cpr.dll in "normal mode" and you should see the error go away.
      *********************

Or again, if you want it with formatting:
[http://minilien.com/?Bzn5ZmI4jc] and go to paragraph <20> without paying attention to the rest :-)

See you and good luck! :-)

    Relhu,
It echoes what especially Tower... (and a little bit me) were indicating to you...
But do you have a CPR program in add-remove programs...?
Search for it on the HDD with the search argument ""*cpr*"
Check its properties with a right click...
And let us know what it says... before going further...
If you have a reference to Borland (the publisher of Delphi) in the property, it might be good...

Good luck or good chances and @+

    Hello,
I have exactly the same problem since 26.11.03, unable to use Windows Explorer or IE. I don't have the Delphi program. I don't know what to do either, and I am considering formatting my disk soon if there is no solution!!
    Thank you
