Hello, and thank you for your help
I have W 98 Word 2000 and Office. The toolbar (files - edit - view ...) has disappeared.
I don't have access to the keyboard shortcut that gives me access to 'full screen' view.
I don't know how to tackle the problem
I reinstalled Office, but it didn't change anything
Thank you for your help

So I'm not the only one who had this problem! Try this:

To reset Word to its default configuration: Start>search>file or folder search in all file types (including hidden) for the file "normal.dot", once the search is complete, you may find several files, delete all of them
close the search window and go to Start>run type in the field: winword /a
Word will open and may ask for your information again, fill it out and close it, when you reopen Word it will be reset

    the druid without the potion.

Is it the same process for Excel to retrieve PDFMaker?
Thank you in advance, it really helped me out for Word

I found it simpler: right-click in the area where the menu bar and toolbars are displayed => Customize... then in Toolbars, select Menu Bar and click on the "reset" button.

    Hello
In Word, right-click on the bar where files, edit, view, etc. should normally be located, go to customize
In the window that opens, scroll down in categories and select predefined menus, on the left files will appear first, then edit below, etc.
Select what you want to add to your bar (e.g., file) and click on it while holding down your mouse button to drag it to your bar (you do a drag-and-drop)
Then be careful where you want to save these changes (small window at the bottom) you have the choice of normal.dot or documents1 or other depending on your Word configuration (here you choose the page that appears at startup) you close this window (it should ask you to save this change) name it after your Word startup page
You close Word and reopen it; your bar (that you recreated) should appear
If I haven't been clear enough or it doesn't work, feel free to ask for clarification
    Keep me updated

    See you later, Taupo
    You know what? I'm happy

      Hello,
could you help me? I'm having an issue with Word; my menu bars are not displayed anymore and I've already tried everything, but I can't fix it. I can find the File and Edit menus, but I can't manage to put them back in place, a cross remains active. I've also tried deleting the "normal" file, but nothing works. I don't understand; there are several user accounts on my PC, and this issue is only happening on mine. Everything works fine on the other accounts.

Thank you for getting back to me.

The druid's solution is good! Search for "normal.doc", delete everything, then run "winword /a" and it's back in action! Thanks, druid.

    Hello,
    there's this too

    http://forum.telecharger.01net.com/forum/high-tech/LOGICIELS/Bureautique/pdfmaker-manquant-acrobat-sujet_241538_1.htm

For your information, this could help others if the pdf maker icons are missing from the toolbar in Word and Excel.
Go to ? "Help", then "About Microsoft Word or Excel", "Disabled Items" and finally activate the PDFMAKER items.

Sorry to bring up this kind of message again, but it's not working at all on my side.
I'm on XP, I have Word, Excel... 2000 and I just installed Acrobat 9 Standard.
I don't have the PDFMaker toolbar in Word or Excel...
    In Word:
    - View>Toolbars> NOTHING! No PDFMaker
    - Help>About Microsoft Word> NOTHING!! I don't have "Disabled Items" as mentioned above
    - and I also don't have PDFMaker.dot

    Any idea?

Try to delete the NORMAL.DOT file.
I had this issue with WinME and Office 2000 and it ended with a FORMAT C: !!!
