For me, the best MMORPG is World of Warcraft.
Great graphics quality, great scenery, great storyline.
I give it 9/10.
Despite having to pay for the game and becoming quickly addicted (No Life), and there are a few details that are disappointing like in every game, it is the best MMORPG I've seen.
If you have a bit of money and time to spend, play WoW.

Ideo: The Forgotten Domains is a free massively multiplayer online role-playing game played exclusively on the internet, through a web interface that includes both forums and a game board.

You play as a character evolving in a medieval-fantasy universe with a generally classic and accessible storyline (humans, elves, and orcs sharing five to six kingdoms, each with some specific traits) but filled to the brim with intrigues, mysteries, and cabals for those daring enough to dive deep.

Game System:

Once you’ve completed a small quiz to ensure that the new registrant has grasped a historical overview of the game, you can start creating your character.

Six characteristics and about fifty different skills will allow you to start slowly but surely distinguishing your character from others.

No tedious point-and-click or mindless races to climb, get drunk, search... in short, spending your day on a small twenty distinct actions.

Ideo: The Forgotten Domains emphasizes character interpretation; there are no strictly defined "classes" of characters. Though there are inherently four different "combat styles" (mages, priests, melee fighters, and ranged fighters), your character primarily has the option to embody nearly any profession. Paladin, sorcerer, smuggler, troubadour, public agitator, archaeologist, card player, pimp, bum, brigand, apothecary, astrologer... only your imagination will determine what you can embody.

While the game board dictates objective actions, the forums also allow your character to come alive, interacting with the Ideo community. The texts you write on the forums, subtly overseen by the game masters, theoretically allow you to perform actions not offered by the game board.

Thus, an apothecary, through research, can concoct a poison or love potion. A sorcerer can discover new spells, a corrupt politician can stir the local population against the authorities, a rogue from the cities can cheat at dice or rig his card game, etc.

In conclusion, as long as your writings are consistent with the experience (who said WoW?) in The Forgotten Domains. Ideo aims to be primarily a role-playing game. And role-playing means interpreting a role, a character, which some game publishers seem to have forgotten long ago.

The action takes place in turns of 26 hours each. No need to spend your day behind your screen clicking your mouse, as in just a few minutes, your character can perform daily movements, make purchases, steal, attack, cast spells, flirt; with your character's universe and abilities, you can do whatever comes to mind and reflect your writings on the game board. But beware, others can do so too! The future belongs to those who are the cleverest...

Ideo: The Forgotten Domains is therefore a game inviting those who enjoy reading and writing to experience fantastic adventures. Five years after its launch, supported by a solid community of players and entirely managed by a team of volunteers, Ideo has managed to give its universe a surprising density.

Well, I didn't have time to read all the comments, but some are talking about WoW as the best. I wouldn't dispute that point. But we mustn't forget that it requires a payment! There is a way not to pay, which is to play on a private server like Earthquake, for example. But most of the time, this technique is simple yet illegal. It is not always punished by the law (for players) but remains illegal. So it's true that you might be tempted because the game is really beautiful, but if you don't want to spend your money on this game, be careful not to go too far into illegality ;) .

As for me, I'm playing WoW. I've tried a few free RPGs, and I have to admit that I was disappointed compared to WoW.
It all depends on how you want to play. If it's just a little pastime, there's no need to get WoW; try a free one that you can easily find online. If you really get into it, buy WoW. Just keep in mind that you need to buy the three game boxes (the first one is enough for the first month of level 60 gameplay), the second is 70, and the last expansion is 80+. You also have to pay the subscription every month, 13 euros, or 60 for 6 months. There you go, you’ve been warned.

Play WoW, but I have to admit its downside is the cost. However, it depends on whether you're poor; you might as well stick to the old, crappy games. Otherwise, if you're stable in your life like me, you can buy WoW and play it.

Honestly, I think that among all the RPGs I've played, Rappelz ranks among the best.

Hello, to advise you, I would first like to say that MMORPGs are very engaging games that often become addictive =/ so my biggest advice is to stay away from them.

I played Dofus and WoW, and I really enjoyed both, especially Dofus; it's simple and fun, but you can quickly become dependent.

I recommend the best of the best, which is WOW. As it has already been said, it's multiplayer and played worldwide. It's cool to be able to play and talk to people you don't know. Moreover, this game is played by all ages, from 7 (max or less) to about 50 years old. For instance, I made friends in the game with a married couple; the wife is 41 and her husband is 40. So it's worth it, but be careful, as the game can drive people crazy. You have to know how to control yourself, as we say. Personally, I manage to control myself. It's been about a month since I last played, and I will have to wait until December for my laptop.

I advise you to play "Knight Online", it's a really fun game. I'm new to this type of game, so I haven't had the time to try all the others, but this one is enough for me.

+1 for Dekaron, a friend got me into this game and I can't stop playing it. Graphically, it’s the best; it looks a lot like WoW in terms of quest style, the armors are beautiful, and there are over 120 levels. At first, I was worried that it would be in English, but even with a 6th-grade level, you can understand quite easily what the NPCs want. Plus, there are a lot of French players. The only downside is managing to stay in a guild, but then again, I'm not very high level yet (45). Go to Dekaron France; you'll see, the screenshots are amazing!

in terms of graphics, it's really not bad, but regarding quests, once you reach a certain level (which you can get to in a relatively short time), there are no more, so your life becomes very monotonous: farm/dp/farm/dp/pk/farm/dp etc. etc. so yeah =S
but the game is also based on pets, at the beginning you have a choice between 3 races that you can easily obtain, and after that, it gets much more complicated to get a rarer one, anyway, pets are really the big plus of Rappelz, and considering this game is free, it’s still pretty good =D

Stop putting Dofus every time, it's the scam game that I've never seen. For those who don't agree, the number of players doesn't influence the quality of the game (Dofus is proof of that).
