Excel mac to pc

Hello,
I need to open an Excel file that came from a Mac on my PC.
I'm having trouble doing that!
What should I do?

    The first thing to do is to check that the file name is indeed followed by the extension .xls.

    If the file was saved on the Mac with the "add file extension" option unchecked, it does not exist. However, this extension is essential for Windows to identify the file and the appropriate application for it.

    The file name should therefore be formatted as follows: my file.xls.
