Hello everyone...
I need some important information: I have a Numericable Cablebox decoder (Coditel since I'm Belgian, Thomson DCI52NUM), and I need to know the IR code for the remote control of this decoder in order to sync my Archos to schedule recordings.
Does anyone know this infrared code? Or at least the number of the remote control that comes with it? Thanks in advance!!!
Nicolas

Watch out, Coditel also has a recording decoder! And honestly, I steer clear of Belgacom... they can keep Belgacom TV, especially since they sent a bailiff claiming I hadn’t returned the decoder... I don’t know how they manage their stuff, but it’s not great. And don’t get me started on the headaches with the decoder that resynchronizes all the time for ages, the extremely slow channel surfing, the huge remote, the channel programming that needs to be redone all the time... anyway, having tested both, I’m sticking with Coditel!
I download the updates myself... how do I get them to happen automatically?

Hi,
it's been a while since you made this request, but I was wondering if you found a solution.
As for me, I have a Motorola decoder from Coditel as well, which I had managed to set up correctly, but it hasn't worked since my Archos got an automatic update, and I can't find a code that works.
Please let me know what the situation is for you.
Best regards,
Dani

Hello,
Unfortunately no, I couldn't sync the Archos with my decoder. However, I've read that other people had an Archos that they connected only to the digital TV (the cable), and it worked. For that, call Coditel, ask them to activate (for free) the analog line for you, and you'll be able to switch from your decoder to the cable. And recording should be possible via the cable (with programming, I think) if you reconnect everything properly. Another solution is to set your Archos to "passive" mode, so it records the image displayed on your TV. But if you flip channels, the Archos will record the flipping too. And you'll have to leave your TV on without being able to watch anything else. Basically, I don't know what type of Archos you have, but you'll be able to record the image displayed on your TV screen, without being able to sync with it and flip channels. But before, I had a Belgacom decoder, and it worked.
I hope this helps you a bit...if by any chance you find an Archos update with an IR code for Thomson decoder... ;-)
Good luck!

Thank you for this quick reply.
I will continue to search but at the same time I might consider switching to Belgacom with a recording decoder and the problem would be solved.
You do not receive automatic updates via the internet for your Archos?
Although I am wary of their updates because for me it was working very well until a certain update from them.
In any case, thank you for your feedback.
Best regards.

Regarding the Coditel decoder-recorder, is it faster than the one from Belgacom?
Because the Motorola that I have is very slow as well, and from that point of view, I don't see any difference with the one from Belgacom that I've seen at friends' houses.
Thank you for sharing your experiences; I will need to think more before making my choice.
Best regards,
My Coditel decoder is a Thomson, and I see the difference with Belgacom or even the Coditel Thomson from my girlfriend's parents. Your Thomson decoder is older, so it's enough for you to say that your decoder is having issues and that you want to change it, and I suppose they will replace it with a new Thomson (which will soon also have video on demand, which allows you to set favorite channels, which has an online TV guide...) and the channel switching is fast. Basically, I'm happy. And the interface is prettier, more modern. At least try the new Thomson decoder, and if you like it, you stay with Coditel and get the one with the recorder. Expensive to buy, and I don't know if it's better. But anyway, it's up to you. What would you do with your Archos then? Because then I might be interested!
As for my Archos, I will always find it very useful because I travel a lot for work and that's the main reason why I got it.
See you later.
would you still be interested in an ARCHOS 605 WIFI? I'm selling it.
Best regards,
