Hello,
I would like to start a discussion about this type of equipment as I have just acquired one and there are many gray areas regarding its use, especially in hiking mode.
I also noticed that in road circulation mode, the map was not up to date (a road built over a year ago in Alpes Maritimes, the national 6202 bis, is still not listed, which I find scandalous since, if I understand correctly, updates are paid).
Thank you for your responses.

Hello, I just bought an Evadeo Primo and the problem is that during activation the third code doesn't register completely; the last group cannot be saved.
Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it? Thank you.

I have the same problem as you with the last group of the 3rd code. Have you solved the issue, and if so, can you help me? Thank you in advance.

I'm the same pro! I've had it since 2009 and I've never been able to use it; it refuses the last 4 letters; I've already contacted them several times, nothing so far.

I just bought a new Evadeo GPS (but one of the first versions), and I'm also having the same problem activating the device with the third code that's too long.
1/ If and only if your Evadeo is a Primo, we recommend
that you follow the procedure below:
- download the zipped file patch-primo.zip from the website at the address
http://dl.free.fr/getfile.pl?file=/gvAO6gZ0/patch_primo.zip (copy
- unzip the folder
- copy the contents to the root of your blank SD card (3 folders:
EVADEO, update.exe, and update.ini)
Step 2: patch injection
- connect your Evadeo to a power outlet
- switch the power switch to OFF
- remove the original SD card
- insert the "Patch" SD card you just created
- switch the power switch to ON
- once the file copy is complete, press OK, then switch
the power switch to OFF, remove the SD card, replace it with the card
provided with your Evadeo, and switch the power switch to ON.
If the malfunction persists:
Step 3: removing system files
- connect your Evadeo to the PC via the USB cable and launch ActiveSync
- in the ActiveSync window, click on Explore, then open the
directory \Flash Storage\DATA\IMAGES_PDA\IGN
- in the IGN folder, delete all folders with the extension
".db1" (Note: there are often 2: one called boot.db1 and another
called xxxxxxxxx.db1)
2/ If your Evadeo is an Ushuaia, we recommend that you
format your original SD card to FAT in your SD card reader.
(My Computer/right click on removable disk and format)
Then, insert your DVD and go to My Computer, "DVD"
right-click on it, "explore".
Copy the folders present on the DVD to your original SD card.
(bdd.pc, Raster, Rando, and Scan25 only).
We also advise you to carry out the 2008 update available
on the website www.evadeo.ign.fr in the 'support' section for the Evadeo
Ushuaia.
Best regards,
Elie

For me too, the Evadeo Primo is a problem. Purchased in May 2008, it is out of order. The internal battery no longer works and it cannot be changed. I believe I am not the only one in this situation, but IGN does not want to hear anything about it. They are offering me a credit of €60!!! The device was worth €249 in May 2008. Alternatively, they are offering to equip it with a solar charger...! It's a joke.
In fact, I believe that IGN does not acknowledge what can be called a hidden defect, and as a result, their obligations go beyond the one-year commercial warranty (Article 1641 of the Civil Code). I have sent a formal notice by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt. After January 20, I will hand the case over to civil court. For these disputes, the procedures are free of charge.
It's a shame because I was quite happy with this device that I mainly used for hiking and mountain biking.
The behavior of IGN is taking us back 15 years in terms of consumerism. Today, manufacturers are much more responsible and they do not hesitate to recall their products when they notice a defect (which can always happen).

Well, here I am reassured, I've also bought not one, but two pieces of junk... My first one, an Evadeo X 60, worked fairly well, except when you really need it: to find your way when no one is around!!! That said, my problem stopped abruptly when my power connector came unsoldered. After all, it only serves in the car, and given how stiff the power cable is, it's not surprising that it broke. Thanks to the IGN customer service who kindly advised me to buy another GPS. As for the solar charger, it forces you to turn off the GPS because the GPS, seeing that it has a power supply connected, doesn't go into energy-saving mode, and then it consumes much more than the charger outputs, and it shuts down by itself... isn't that great? Anyway, back to our sheep. I rush to Boulanger to negotiate a new X 55 for 300 euros so I can at least have an extra battery since it's the same as my X 60. I take the opportunity to get the extended warranty just in case... First start to head home: the GPS calculates a route while completely ignoring my position, so no voice guidance, no auto-zoom. I fiddle for hours, mess around with all the menus, and switch to bike mode; and then boom, it crashes with an error message. I let it rest. The next day I leave for 700 km, but the GPS announces 512 km!!! Great, it only knows about azimuth now!!! Handy if I were piloting a helicopter. This GPS is a real piece of junk (yet on paper, it’s a remarkable tool, but it's thrown in its box without even being tested once. It’s organized band fraud, especially given the legendary mediocrity of the Evadeo customer service. In short, potential buyers absolutely negotiate a product test before purchase, or you risk crying in front of your piece of crap...
My battery was dead, and the IGN replied that the 2-year warranty was expired.
I had asked about the model of the battery, but I received no response.
After reading on forums that one could order a battery from WORCELL, it was delivered to me. I disassembled it according to the method explained on the forums, I soldered the new battery which I glued with PATAFIX. Everything's fine, but the attitude of the IGN is deplorable!

My battery is dead, the same response from IGN customer service, no longer under warranty, check with the sales service which never answers. It just sits in its box, I can’t use it despite my research with battery retailers; they don’t recognize this battery.
In summary, do not buy this product because the sellers at IGN offer disposable GPS devices like products from China; it’s shameful given the price of the GPS for only two years and two months of use.

I have a problem with the codes regarding the 3rd one; I can't input all the numbers. We need to enter 3 "groups," but I can only input 2.
If anyone has a solution to this problem, please let me know.

I just bought one at Decathlon, this APM
Impossible to use it since at startup: Activation code
I have to delete a complete directory of 1.4G0 on the SD Card
and copy it back via the DVD included
I just did that but it still doesn't work
If the Hotline doesn't respond, it's going straight back to the store
Too bad, it seemed pretty good for the vacation

Hello,
I had a similar problem, but in Florence, I couldn't connect to the satellites during the entire stay!! I called customer service, and they told me that the last patch must have created an issue and they were supposed to send me a correction patch; I've been waiting for it since January!!

Response to your question,
purchase of an Evadeo in early October 2007, configuration issues, resolved by customer service (two months of waiting!).
March 2008, battery unusable, the device was exchanged by the store, but it cannot read the provided card!!! Second exchange!
July 2008, the same problem occurs, the device can no longer read the card again, very pleasant when this happens to you in an area you don't know and the Michelin guide is in a drawer at home.
No exchange this time, but a refund of the purchase price of my Evadeo by the store, which no longer sells this brand due to other dissatisfied customers.

I own an Evadéo Primo, upgraded to Premium, with updated radar database and it works very well, without any remarkable issues. There is a very active, well-documented forum dedicated to IGN GPS: type www.evadiste.fr.
Happy reading ...

I also have huge difficulties with the Evadéo v1, it stops along the way, the first updates are difficult to install. I had bought tiles for hiking, these tiles are found on the GPS map, on a map reader, when the GPS map is in the device, Evadéo cannot find them.
The IGN recredited my account to repurchase these maps after the updates, new problem, it is impossible to buy the same maps twice, they remain greyed out in blue.
If someone can help me, thank you.

Hello,
I think you should have solved your problem.
1) However, it is important to know that some devices have a manufacturing programming issue and cannot be activated without software modification; in this case, you need to return it to the customer service for an exchange (according to the Evadeo hotline).
2) For the IGN maps to be visible, the device must be registered with Evado; during this registration, Evado sends three activation codes via email that need to be entered into the device; after this activation, the IGN maps will be visible.
3) For the radar database update (which is paid), it is also sometimes a hassle...

Thank you very much for your response, I solved this problem in the worst way possible, I bought a TomTom Go 930 and I am thrilled with it.
I had many emails with Evadéo, sent the GPS back twice, had it checked at their establishment in Paris by one of their technicians who confirmed it wasn't working, their responses have always been ineffective.
Thanks again for your response, it confirms what I thought, that this first Evadéo was not up to par.

Hello,
I am really disappointed with the Evadeo Ushuaia GPS, as after just a few days of use, it has started to "bug" with this persistent and recurring display issue (which Evadeo is already aware of, yet they still sell it) showing activation codes.
I followed all the procedures indicated by customer service, which are the same as those described here (thank you for the copy-paste...). When trying to perform the update, an error appears on my PC: "error 04: the update is for the Evadeo Ushuaia model", the same thing happens on the GPS when I manage to start the update. However, my GPS is indeed an Evadeo Ushuaia (to my great regret now, I wish I had never purchased this device that doesn't work; considering the price we pay, it's unacceptable): it's like the port salut, it's written on it: Evadeo Ushuaia, on the casing, and on the home screen!!!
So, where is the problem this time? And since I bought my GPS on RDC, am I going to have to send it back at my own expense, is that it??? This is going to be yet another cost for me, not to mention that I've been without GPS for two days now. But that, we are never reimbursed for the damage suffered either.

Hello.
I bought an EVADEO M30 in January 2009.
I've only had problems with it. It can't find satellites. After a first return to the store it was better, but it only found satellites one time out of five!!! The customer service is useless and never responds.
It's also impossible to update my evadeo.
There's no option to read maps at 1:250,000. After a return to IGN, it didn't work any better. After 3 months I returned this device to BOULANGER. One piece of advice, do not buy this device!!!

Hello, well I'm not too reassured about buying this GPS from the brand IGN! Moreover, if the customer service doesn't even bother to respond to issues with their equipment, it's mocking the customers by making them "live" with it! Well, I'll see how it goes later! Thank you for your not-so-encouraging feedback regarding this GPS!
A tip: do not buy your IGN GPS from Rue Du Commerce.com, because they refuse to listen regarding the refund of your purchase, even if it turns out to be a manufacturing issue, and even if Evadeo's customer service tells you to get refunded from them. Not only does the Evadeo Ushuaia GPS not work, but it’s also a nightmare to get a refund, with IGN and Rue du Commerce passing the blame back and forth. So just a lot of trouble, both with the GPS and with customer services. Hours wasted trying to get it to work again, in vain, and more hours wasted hoping to get a refund.
Hello,
From what I read, I am not the only one disappointed with the Evadéo Primo.
A first-rate scam.
After 1 year and 3 months, the battery died.
Response from IGN; we do not change batteries, buy a backup battery connected by a cable.
It's a scandal to see such contempt for customers, a faulty device made by incompetent people.
A useless GPS, slow to position, not visible in bright light, has never lasted the planned 6 hours, a memory card too small to hold about fifty maps.
Definitely avoid making this purchase.
Seb.
