cursor disappearing in text areas. Solved

Question

Hello,

so, when I place my mouse in a text area, whether it's in Firefox, the Thunderbird message editor, or any other program where I need to write… my pesky little cursor disappears… so it's really, really inconvenient for writing and a bit infuriating!

Thanks in advance if you have a solution!

So my problem was the choice of the cursor, it could no longer find the file, and indeed when the cursor disappears over a text area, it means that the uppercase I cursor does not appear.
So I had to reselect the default Aero cursor from the list, and it was resolved.

For me, changing the model doesn't work. The cursor occasionally jumps out of the window I'm working on, whether it's Firefox or a text editing program. Just writing this message is driving me crazy, please help me.

Same here, I've tried all your solutions but the cursor keeps jumping; I have to constantly reposition it in the right place using the mouse, which is really inconvenient... no other ideas??

Well, for those who might find it helpful, I found the solution to my problem. Apparently, the issue was related to the graphics acceleration of the video card.
So I first tried this solution:

Open the display properties from the control panel.
- In the "Settings" tab, click on the "Advanced" button
- A new window opens: "Display Properties..." Click on the "Troubleshooting" tab
- In the "Hardware acceleration" box, there is a slider that goes from "None" to "Full". Normally this slider is set to "Full". Move this slider one notch to the left. The small comment from Microsoft states, "Disable accelerations for the cursor and bitmaps. Use this setting to fix problems affecting the mouse pointer or correct issues with corrupted images."
- Click OK and it's done!

Good result for me—it didn't work ;) but I'm putting the procedure anyway, maybe it will work for others.

AND SO, after many headaches, I found the cause of the problem by chance. Simply by changing the wallpaper. I had been using a personal image for a while. I replaced it with an Aero theme and then everything went back to normal. Maybe it will work for you too; in any case, you have nothing to lose by trying.
