Hello,

I installed Windows Messenger Plus! a few days ago and I noticed that a small white square appeared under the photo of one of my contacts in the conversation window.
Can someone tell me what it means, please???

Thanks in advance :)
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

Hi everyone, I think I know where it comes from. I've been on MSN for a while and I've been studying computers; I'm pretty experienced, but I have a little doubt because this white square was absent yesterday and something unusual happened. My XP system asked me 3 or 4 times in a row to perform updates (at 3 or 4 hours apart), and since then I've had this square. So I think it comes from the XP system because of the updates, and I don't believe this is a virus at all. I think it's more of a new MSN feature being implemented, and if it's empty for now, that's normal in my opinion. The sign to turn on the webcam should soon appear inside it. As for the lost shared folders, disable the shared folders and then reactivate them. Then the person who sent you the files you lost should open the shared folder and check the history; if those files are there, you should have them, and if they're not, ask them to resend them to you.

I also think it's a novelty for WLM, but it's definitely not a virus!!!

    Good evening,
    Response on the website www.msncreative.net:

"It is about the integration of Microsoft Office products into Messenger! However, only users of Windows Live Messenger 9 can see the real logo.

    It is currently not clickable.

The white square in Windows Live Messenger 8.5 is therefore indeed a bug!"

So I don't remember who was right! This reason had been mentioned on the previous page, it seems to me!

The only thing I don't understand is: why does it also affect 8.5 and why does it suddenly appear depending on the people? At one point in the afternoon, I no longer had it, then someone connected and it came back.

Thank you for the response, which seems much more credible compared to the other nonsense...

Hello, it's not a small white square with a drawing that looks like a camera in it under the correspondent's image on the left; if that's the case, it means the correspondent is equipped with a webcam.

    Hello,
I just noticed that one of my contacts has the same white square and it seems that their messenger is experiencing some bugs. Are you having the same problem with "mini disconnections"???

      Hello,

Others see my MSN with the same white square under my picture. However, my MSN works very well. And I confirm that it’s not on the machine because my MSN is on two different computers and it does the same thing in both places.

Hello, I have the same problem ...
    Please help me!!
I logged out and then logged back in, and then there was no more white box.
But when one of my contacts connected (from a mobile) and started the conversation,
    it came back!
    What should I do?

As loudogeek says, I also don't see what the problem is!
I also have this white square on one of my contacts (it's the one I talk to the most, he only has it with me as well) but no bugs have occurred since it appeared.
    Probably something new who knows...
