Hello,

I am reaching out to you because the motherboard of my Packard Bell IMEDIA H 5140, a Sunshine GA-8I915PM Ver 1.1, has burned out. I am therefore looking for a compatible motherboard, preferably within 50€.

You can find the specifications of my motherboard here:
http://support.packardbell.com/fr/item/index.php?i=spec_Sunshine&psn=100260170304

and those of my PC here:
http://support.packardbell.com/fr/item/?sn=100260170304&g=1400

and also:
- 1 Seagate Barracuda Serial ATA 7200 RPM 160 GB hard drive
- 1 DIMM DDR 512 MB PC 3200U – 30330 RAM stick
- 24-pin ATX power supply

For leisure use: office tasks, internet, and a bit of photo editing.

With my thanks
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.9

Hello, sorry if you received another message, I made a false manipulation.
Otherwise, I have the same graphics card but for a Legend brand computer (the manufacturer is actually Packard Bell/NEC).
Right now, I’m having problems, among others, with USB ports that sometimes don’t work, the boot is very long, and I also have to make several attempts to start my computer. I strongly suspect that the motherboard is to blame, which is why I'm asking you what symptoms you experienced that led you to determine that your motherboard was faulty.
Sorry for not responding to your request, but I believe the information you have could also interest me.

Oh yes, in terms of symptoms, something curious happens: I turn on the computer, there’s a short beep, the screen shows the manufacturer's logo (which gives access to the BIOS among other things), it hangs; I have to turn off the computer using the button (no other solution), and the indicator on my keyboard remains lit while the machine is stopped. If I press a key, the computer restarts!!! The same thing happens if I unplug the keyboard from the machine…
I’m also open to solutions; I hope I haven’t polluted this discussion too much, but if necessary, I will open a specific discussion.
    Thanks in advance
    Philoux

      Hello,
Sunshine motherboards have a marked tendency to fail, and this has been the case for a while.
My motherboard has also died (my Packard Bell Imédia 5932 SN203425690003 is 3 years old). I bought it in January 2005 and 3 months later I received a letter from Auchan's after-sales service indicating that there was a quality issue with certain Sunshine motherboards and that it was therefore advisable to perform an update. Despite that, the motherboard has just failed. I wrote to request a goodwill gesture for the purchase of a new motherboard and a CPU, returning their letter forwarded by the after-sales service and informing them that it is not normal for a motherboard and a CPU to fail after 3 years. This could perhaps be considered a hidden defect that they tried to cover up with a patch.
And a certain David called me. For him, if their update had not been of quality, my PC would have broken down faster...(sic)
I clearly indicated that I primarily work on Macintosh (on which I’m actually writing) and that my PC is only used very occasionally, that I regularly dust my PC with a can of compressed air...
He will not make any goodwill gestures because for them there is no link with their quality issue...
And in 3 years, for them, a PC is considered invested (resic)

Conclusion: Packard Bell is not a brand to recommend: let this be known

    for Philou

also check your BIOS because I've seen people buy PCs and the BIOS wasn't optimized. My PC has this motherboard, the BIOS has been optimized, and when I press the power button on my PC, there's a 20-second wait before I can go where I want. I bought another PC a year ago, and it takes more than 2 minutes (I haven't optimized anything)
