disassembled space bar

Question

Hello,
can someone help me? I'm using an HP laptop, and I've removed my spacebar. But I can't seem to put it back on. It must be because of the metal bars under the key or something... Because when it's put back on, it works in the center, but not on the sides of the key.

Hello, here’s the solution: First, fix the metal bar in its place on the keyboard.
2- Try to align the two small sides of the bar with their positions in the key.
3- Make sure the key is not upside down.
4- Press (not too hard) on the key to lift it back up. And there you go, it's done.

UP, same here, I can set the space bar in the middle notch and on the metal bar but impossible to put it back on the clips on the side that don’t have a spring...

If anyone has a solution by the way?

I had the same problem and I solved it by properly reassembling the metal bar. On my Asus laptop, there is a small hole on each side to slide the ends of the metal rod.

Here we go, we worked on it together, the middle bar needs to be positioned under the side notches, and it's working again.  I used two unfolded paperclips to position it before clipping the button.

Thank you for the answers because I was about to lose it and I've just fixed the problem. Of course, it depends on the keyboards, but in my case, my problem was that I put the space key back without doing anything special.

What I had to do to fix the problem: secure both sides / ends of the metal bar at the bottom on the "notches" which aren't really notches (hence the fact that I didn't understand), I had to hold it by placing it properly on these metal ends, then while continuing to hold this bar, I clipped the key back in. I hope I was clear.

The post dates back to 2012, but just in case I reply, I have a Razer keyboard:

Following an incident with an iced tea glass, the space bar was sticking, I wanted to take it off to clean it, but I broke the clip that holds the bar (not the clip on the key), and it's impossible to put it back properly; I could only make a space by pressing the middle of the key. Anyway. I put myself in the shoes of a ProGamer! lol

- I used some adhesive tape because I didn't have any Scotch tape lol I managed to fix the metal bar, little piece by little piece, the bar doesn't come off anymore, but you need to make sure it can move up and down
- I took the key the right way and put the bar in the key's notches, I fixed it, and BAM! (it goes chocapic!!!) it's working properly again!
