Unable to resume Yahoo Mail on my Android phone

I’ve been using YM on my mobile for decades without any problem, with the same account on my Windows 10 PC. Recently on my phone I get the message “YM not responding, Wait or Close.” If I choose Wait, it may restart after a while. I decided to uninstall the app and reinstall it after clearing the cache. YM asks for my email address and password and I proceed to the next step, which offers to send a verification code either by SMS (since it recognizes my phone) or to my recovery email address that it shows, so I’m obviously at home. As soon as I enter the code that is sent, it returns, without any explanation, to the field for my user code. I’ve tried several times to change the destination of the code, but nothing helps. I should note that YM on PC works normally.
