Downloaded .rar file becomes .htm when finished

Hello,

Here’s the thing: I chose to download a .rar file, everything goes fine until the end, and right at the end it turns into a .htm and weighs 0b. What can I do?

    Hello,

    In case of download failure, whatever is said, there should be no trace of the failed download.

    It’s not very clear what the htm file is doing there, probably a request on the site in question to a third-party address or script by definition questionable.

    The rar format is in decline; you don’t see it as often anymore except on dubious sites.

    Either the security software has censored and quarantined or outright blocked the download of a malicious executable, or the site is so dubious that the download may, if anything, lead to nothing at all or to files we didn’t ask for.

    In the case of a dubious and counterfeit site, it is of course up to you to deal with it and you will not receive help in that regard; otherwise you can possibly provide the link to the site in question so that this behavior can be checked.
