Hello,

For the past 2 weeks, my internet provider ORANGE has prohibited the use of the outgoing SMTP server if the sender has an email address other than @orange, naturally without any prior notice.

Have other people experienced this problem? Do other internet providers have this policy?

    Hello

I always use the SMTP server of my email host. That's what is offered by the email clients I use (Thunderbird, Outlook, Gmail) and it works very well.

Therefore, I don't know if there's a prohibition on using different servers. In the past, I have done so without any particular problems.

      Hello,

Historically, I've been blocked the other way around (sending from an Orange address on an SFR operator), so at least Orange refuses to send traffic that it doesn't consider its own.

I also have a similar issue while traveling with my current SFR address on a third-party operator.

This is a "choice" that likely depends on the operators, and the result is the same regardless of which SMTP we use.

The only solution is to use a webmail that doesn’t go through these SMTPs, whether on PC or phone, but if we have canceled an Orange or SFR plan, we typically no longer have access to the corresponding webmail.

Of course, we can bypass this by using a third-party webmail (like Gmail) while traveling or by using our mail app on a smartphone, which again won’t go through the operators' SMTPs.
