Hello, I saw Ethernet cables on the internet where you plug the Ethernet end into the port on the laptop, and it has a female USB adapter at the end (so a USB socket).

I wanted to know if it is possible to connect a mouse to the Ethernet port with a simple USB adapter.

And is it possible to connect it to an HDMI port with a female USB adapter on the HDMI cable?

Thank you very much.

Hello,

The USB to Ethernet adapter only works one way. The same goes for a USB to HDMI adapter.

You cannot use RJ45 or HDMI connections to make them USB.

Are your USB ports not working anymore, or do you not have enough of them?

For the mouse, your laptop may have Bluetooth.

Hello,

no, a mouse on an ethernet port, forget it, that doesn't exist.

You can connect a lot of things via USB, by the way, the U stands for universal, but you need the right driver on the USB port and the proper electronics on the other end, not just a simple cable.

HDMI is already more compatible directly, but I don't see the point of what you want to do, as video usually comes from and goes to an HDMI port, so you might as well use an HDMI cable directly, no need to go through USB in the middle.

If it's to transmit video over a distance, there are HDMI/ethernet converters or even HDMI/IP converters.

As for female USB to male RJ45, it's this kind of thing which basically just extends a USB cable via RJ45 wall sockets.

And there you have it....

But goodness, how annoying the line spacing is!!
