Hello,
I'm looking for advice to replace a laptop currently running Windows 10. The budget is 650 euros. I'm fine with buying refurbished.
Here are the specifications of the current laptop:
17 inches (Acer)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
Storage 932 GB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce 920M (2 GB), Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 (128 MB)
The goal is to run not too demanding games. The laptop's battery and hard drive should be easily replaceable. Ideally, the screen should be 17 inches.
Thank you for your advice

Hello,
You might want to take a look here first.

Thank you, I've thought about it, but the problem is that the current computer is starting to wear out. It was bought used more than four years ago, the hard drive and the fan have already been replaced, I’d rather start with a new device and see if I can find a way to "recycle" my current computer.
Hello,
You went to see (in person) at Electro Dépôt because with the budget of 650 you can get at least two H.P. brand laptops for example or another.
Have a nice day.
Hello,
It's like Leclerc who shouts so much about being cheaper on everything that we end up believing it.
On the website, at least as of today, new products aren't that economical outside of those that are immediately out (4GB RAM and 128GB SSD), none have a graphics card, and none of the refurbished options meet the specifications.
If I take a look at refurbished options on Back Market, I have no shares, I will see that within these specifications (roughly a 17-inch gaming PC), it’s hard to find a 17-inch and it's always out of budget, starting around €1000.
We can't solve the quadratic equation, it seems very difficult or impossible to find the "necessary" configuration in 17 inches within the stated budget; as mentioned, we will only be within budget in <13> by "sacrificing" for a 15-inch screen.
I am a volunteer just like you and I am not here specifically to contradict what would be accurate or to contradict at all.
I have indeed informed myself as you suggested by consulting the Electro Dépot website and I have reported what I found.
But I know that my vision is declining, highlight for me the computers that meet the request for €300 or even €600, regardless of the brand.
Thank you for this reply, the computer seems pretty good. The screen is only 15 inches, but with a limited budget, one must be prepared to make concessions.
Hello,
Replace the plague with cholera?
The original PC is nothing to be ashamed of, except that it is probably not natively compatible with Windows 11, and it has a weak processor and graphics card.
In other words, it has no reason to struggle with office tasks, but it does for gaming.
It does not seem reasonable to propose a 15-inch machine (the request is for 17), with a newer processor, but only 8 GB of RAM and still an asthmatic graphics card.
That said, I don't know if anyone can answer this question more precisely than the user herself; it's enough to search with the specifications we've set.
A 17-inch screen, 16 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD, and a graphics card that seems to be at least Nvidia series 40 or equivalent.
The most difficult criteria to meet or find will be the drive (which is usually not very difficult to change but check the maximum allowable capacity) and especially the battery, which increasingly is not easily removable.
Such specifications will look for €1000 and more for new without Windows (that's not a problem), the budget might be a bit tight to find something recent second-hand that meets these criteria.
Brucine, thank you for your response, my original question may have been a bit too vague.
I found a few PC models that seem to match my needs in terms of configuration, while staying within budget:
HP 17-cp3016nf
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17ALC6
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17ABA7
HP 17-cn3016ns
My problem is knowing if it is easy to change the battery and the hard drive if needed. It is not obvious for me to go to a store to see the computer, and this information is not always specified in the listings. Is there a reliable way to find out which components of a computer can be easily changed? For example, on my current computer, the battery is not removable.
I don't know; it's never specified in online listings, let alone in physical stores where the salesperson might be able to answer.
To my knowledge, recent HPs no longer have removable batteries (that's the case with my current one from 2022; it wasn't the case with the one before from around 2017).
If it's available somewhere, it's in the technical description of the PC on the brand's website.
Thank you for your time. I've thought about it and I believe I can look for cheaper refurbished PCs and keep the rest of the budget to have the battery replaced by a professional when it needs it;
Do you think this kind of configuration could meet my needs?
