Windows installation issue

Hello everyone,
I am facing a problem that neither I nor a technician has been able to solve.

Configuration :
    •    MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
    •    Ryzen 9 5950X
    •    64 Go Corsair Vengeance LPX
    •    Crucial P3 1 TB NVMe
    •    RTX 2070
    •    EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3

Context :

I changed the CPU, added RAM, an NVMe SSD, and replaced the water cooling with an air cooler.
Since then, the Windows 11 installation didn't even complete at first.

After deleting the numerous partitions on my drives (10+), the installation finally completed.
The problem: on the first restart, after the “Please wait” logo,
→ Black screen,
→ Fans at full speed,
→ Red CPU LED.

Unable to access the desktop.

What I have done :
    •    Clear CMOS (JBAT1 jumper + battery removed)
    •    Full BIOS reset
    •    Minimal BIOS settings: UEFI Only, Secure Boot OFF, XMP OFF, OC Explore Mode Normal, FCLK Auto
    •    Clean installation of Windows 11 (official MediaCreationTool USB)
    •    CPU installation checked (no bent pins)
    •    Boot attempted with a single RAM stick
    •    Attempts to access Safe Mode (F8 impossible)
    •    BIOS updated to the latest version
    •    Installation done only with the NVMe SSD (without SATA or HDD)

Notes :
    •    The BIOS detects all components correctly (CPU, RAM, NVMe, GPU),
    •    Normal temperatures in the BIOS,
    •    The crash occurs only after starting Windows, never in the BIOS.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello,

Are the RAM sticks properly installed in the slots recommended by the manual if only 2/4 slots are used? And are there 2 or 4 identical modules?

Is the BIOS up to date?

Windows on USB, is it the ISO 11 24H2 from this location:

https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows11

Please try to diagnose the hardware with Hiren's tools (Boot CD USB)

https://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/

And Rufus

https://rufus.ie/fr/

Create a bootable USB drive of Hiren's Boot CD PE using Rufus

If the PC is old, the key must be created in MBR mode

If it is recent (Windows 8 or later) in GPT mode for EFI

Boot from it through the PC's Boot Menu

You can search on Google "[Brand Model] Boot Menu Key"

Use (In Hiren's Diagnostics) CrystalDiskInfo and see if the disk is detected as Good.

And other tools are available, I don't know, to check CPU temperature

Could you also test the RAM with Memtest86 Free?

Hello,

Thank you very much for your response.

Here are the requested elements:

  • Yes, the RAM sticks are correctly installed in the slots recommended by the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC manual (DIMM 2 and DIMM 4 for using 2 sticks).
  • I have 2 identical 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX sticks (same model, same frequency).
  • The BIOS is indeed up to date (latest official version available on the MSI website).
  • For Windows 11, the ISO used is the official 24H2 version downloaded directly from the Microsoft website (via MediaCreationTool).
  • The installation is done on a brand new Crucial P3 NVMe SSD.

Regarding additional details on the tests already performed:

  • I tried installing Windows on each of my three different drives (Crucial P3 NVMe SSD, Kingston A400 SATA SSD, and Seagate Barracuda HDD).
  • The problem is exactly the same on all drives, whereas the old SSDs and HDDs were working perfectly before the hardware change.
  • I also tested the RAM in several ways:
    • With a single stick installed,
    • By changing slots,
    • By reusing my old RAM sticks (2x8 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX).
  • In all cases, the behavior remains the same:
    → Windows installation completes successfully,
→ Then crashes on first launch (“Please wait” → black screen → fans at full speed → red CPU LED).

Your ISO or USB key may be corrupted.

Download the ISO directly here (to keep it at the same time)

https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows11

When you have the Windows ISO file, you can create a Bootable USB key with Rufus

https://rufus.ie/fr/

In GPT mode for EFI

But before creating the key with Rufus, check the ISO by opening it with 7-Zip and clicking on "Test"

You can also format the key to FAT32 and check it with H2testw

But the red CPU LED doesn't bode well.

It's not normal, that's the only thing I can say about it.

Well, I would have thought it was due to a hardware defect, but which one? I tried both the old and the new processor, the same for the RAM, the SSD, so I don't really understand...

The LED points to the CPU

But I don't know much about AMD CPUs

Try to see if Hiren's starts and if you can use its programs.

Hello,

Try to install the BIOS 7B85v1G.zip corresponding to the Ryen9 5950X
