Windows 11: the ultimate scam?

Windows 10 was supposed to be the last of the last, with automatic updates for life. But no, there will ultimately be an eleventh version. Starting October 14, updates for W10 will no longer happen; you must install W11, but it’s free, I swear!
Okay, I’m willing to give it a try... I’ve tried, except this version is a real slippery soap, there's no way to grab it. Oh well, but your computer isn’t powerful enough; you have to buy another one. And there we go, they’re putting a knife to our throats!

My computer IS powerful. I paid a good price for it in 2016! And I still have plenty of storage memory for years.
Yes, but with Windows 11 you need a camera and a microphone; you’ll be able to better use AI.

If I have neither a microphone nor a camera, it’s because I don’t need them, and I couldn’t care less about AI.

So... W11 aims to make people spend money if they want to continue working with computers. Well done Microsoft, the sense of commerce... long live capitalism. In other words, it’s extortion.

If any specialists can explain to me that I’m wrong, I would prefer to admit it and not have to invest in a new computer for nothing. Because a microphone and camera won’t be of any use to me either.

    Hello

There's no need to freak out!

Your computer will continue to work. There will be no more software updates or security updates. So you'd better have a good antivirus and a good firewall.

And if you don't engage in risky behavior, nothing will probably happen.

There are many of us in this situation. I myself have an old Dell currently running Win 10 (originally under Win 7). It works well and I still use it fairly often. It's clear that it will never be able to upgrade to Win 11. And I have no intention of giving it up.

So keep your computer and don't let Microsoft's announcements intimidate you.

      Hello,

That said, no version of Windows has ever had lifetime updates.

Aside from the specific requirements for Windows 11, it is regrettable, but each generation of software—not just Windows or Windows operating systems—is designed to run on the hardware of its corresponding era.

It is also the public's demand for increasingly powerful software that is responsible for this relentless race, as well as an unspoken commercial reason: the mass production of computers should arithmetically decrease the price; the only way for manufacturers to maintain it is to change the components for good or bad reasons.

    Thank you for your kindness

    But still...
    Not reassured nonetheless.
I will go to a repair craftsman I know.

    Hello

When I see this kind of reaction, I think:

But what will happen when internal combustion cars are banned? (2035 in the EU, probably before that in France since we are the champions of absolute stupidity), because with Windows 11 we are on computers, a few hundred euros at stake, no more. With your electric cars that will have to be purchased, it will be several tens of thousands....

      Hello.

Gasoline cars will not be banned for use (except in low-emission zones) but for sale.

It's not quite the same thing.

        Hello,

And the same thing that we are facing outside of these ZFEs, Crit'Air and the emphasis on pollution is that, if I remember correctly, half of the French vehicle fleet consists of outdated and highly polluting diesel wrecks.

Half of the French vehicle fleet is made up of old, highly polluting diesel trash.

Because not everyone can afford to change a car like they change a toaster.......

And regarding the real pollution from diesels, there's a lot to say.......

SATS: I deliberately exaggerated, but that's the idea conveyed, because if it were possible to ban them, they would ban them..........
