Hello,

I would like to install Windows on my new MSI computer.

From what I understand, there's no need to start the computer by pressing any key since we have the option directly.
So I have 2 choices that seem best to me:

USB configuration or UEFI BIOS update.

I'm right to choose UEFI BIOS update, aren't I?

Otherwise, here are the other options https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JkYd4-ns2eoMBbtn-ts4S__EA-CD_3s1/view?usp=sharing

Thank you very much in advance for your help

Hello,

BIOS Update is for updating the BIOS.

To install Windows, you need a USB drive of 8GB or more prepared from this link or program: https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows11

Creating Windows 11 Installation Media

Then you need to use the Boot Menu key on the PC if it doesn't automatically boot from the USB drive.

Thank you for your response.

What's the boot menu key of the PC please? That's exactly what I'm looking for...

You're welcome,

See here: https://www.malekal.com/liste-touches-acces-bios-boot-menu-constructeur/

Or you can search on Google "[Brand Model] Boot Menu Key"

To know which key to press to start from the disk you want, presumably the USB drive that contains the Windows installer.

Thank you for your responses, it eventually launched without too many issues. Now I have another concern: I am being asked to select the installation location for Windows and here are the options.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/15FCnb9DARZtZ7tOWga1X-FT7WbkvUsvH/view?usp=sharing

Knowing that the only one that can be activated is partition 1 of disk 2, but when I click on it, it says: an error occurred while selecting this partition for installation. Select another partition or refresh the selections.

It should also be noted that I

Downloaded the VMD driver to enable SSD detection during the Windows installation

as indicated on the purchasing site of my computer and that (as a result?) I loaded the intel rst vmd managed controller 09AB driver, knowing that the other intel rst vmd controller 467F driver did not want to install (driver installation error).

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Hello again,

Delete all partitions on disk 1 (So that it becomes unallocated space, before clicking New > Ok > Next

Well, I absolutely don't understand anything you're saying, but I deleted everything as advised and it worked... well, almost. I was told to be patient during the Windows installation and that it should restart several times. I waited until the restart. At the time of the restart, bam, it goes back as if I hadn't done anything and asks me again if I want to install Windows and all the blah blah from the beginning.

So I restart the whole process and as soon as it turned off for its first restart, I quickly removed the USB key thinking that way it wouldn't automatically switch to the key. But no, it didn't work; it returns as when there's no key or Windows...

What should I do, please???

Thank you very much for your help, I didn't think it would be such a hassle...

Have you changed the boot disk in the BIOS?

No, I can hardly understand the question. How do you do that?

Remove the USB key, it will no longer boot from it, but will try to boot from the disk on which Windows has just been copied.

Removing the key is what I did, but it starts over from scratch as if nothing had been installed, so that's not working either.

How do I change the boot disk in the BIOS?

Thank you

To enter the BIOS, it is explained here again: https://www.malekal.com/liste-touches-acces-bios-boot-menu-constructeur/

In the Boot section (BOOT Priority), you need to set it as first (Your 500GB disk)

Hello

Thank you very much for your response, I can't display the BIOS.

I pressed the delete key as indicated on your link https://www.malekal.com/liste-touches-acces-bios-boot-menu-constructeur/

but nothing happens...

I also tried to go directly to the boot link and change the settings

as shown in the images below

https://drive.google.com/file/d/17Vc1SMKj1BR-tm0Sqc6dk1GACdXlioiv/view?usp=sharing

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CH2XpHEkORhw2i_QhX7c5GbYB7jr0BbZ/view?usp=sharing

but it doesn't change. As before, I can start the installation and at the time of the reboot, it's as if nothing happened and I have to start the installation all over again...

My computer is an MSI Thin 15 B12UCX

Could you help me please to change these BIOS settings?

Thank you very much in advance

When you created the partition, did you click OK when Windows warned you that other partitions would be created automatically?

I don't know much about MSI PCs, but in BOOT/UEFI, it looks good; it wants to boot from a Samsung SSD, on the installed Windows Boot Manager.

Would resetting the BIOS settings to default help?

In the Save & Exit tab, there is an option to perform a BIOS Reset (Default)

A driver can only be installed on a functional operating system.

Windows is installed on a partition or a blank disk; what you are saying about a driver being necessary for the detection of the SSD is a mistake.

Remove the CD from the drive; it is useless.
Then follow Fabul's advice.
You should only have one disk with its partition where Windows will be installed, partitioning according to its needs.

Hello,

No, the setup on the USB stick allows you to load the disk controller driver, take another look at the photo, in the middle at the top of the menu, it's quite well thought out so that we can access disk controllers after the Windows boot, and Windows can still install even if the driver is not included in the preinstallation environment (PE) file, the install.wim of the Windows image, or in the WinRE recovery contained in the Windows ISO disk.
