Hello

I have a friend who received a PDF document whose file name ends with (._PDF), he cannot copy and paste and he cannot print it. Is there a solution?

Thank you.
Best regards.

    Hello,

A PDF document ends with .pdf and not with ._pdf

Therefore, it is normal that when you try to print it, the program does not work, as it fails to recognize the file.

Moreover, you do not specify whether he was able to open it, and using which PDF reader.

You might try changing the suffix to the one mentioned above.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to ask your friend to re-upload (if possible) the document and check the title's ending and proper opening before attempting to print it again.

Hello and thank you for your help.
He was able to read it just by opening it in the email, but he can't copy and paste it because he can't print it.
He tried renaming it and removing the dash from the 8, but the file refuses to open.

That's why I am asking you for help.

He just wants to print it to put it in his folder.

I am waiting for help. Thank you.

It is not always possible to solve a problem with an unreadable file, especially when we do not have access to the document in question, knowing that a PDF is protected.

If your friend sends you the download link, you will be able to see for yourself whether it is readable or not.

Depending on the origin of the file, it is advisable to ask the sender to provide an identifiable PDF for a PDF reader.

Or you could try to take one or more screenshots from the email display.

Another participant may have a solution.

      Hello,

Beware of double extensions that claim to be a PDF but are actually something else, with the PDF used to hide malicious content.

Verify the reality of things by displaying the extensions.

        Hello brucine,

I had forgotten about this activity of the joyful internet sores. Personally, I wouldn’t try to open a suspicious file.

Thank you for your responses. In fact, I think this is a highly protected file because it was sent to him by his lawyer. But he would have liked to print it to include it in his folder with the other papers. He cannot make copies from the email box where he reads it.
Thank you for your help. I look forward to other solutions. Thank you.

      Hello,

That still doesn't tell us why this file would have an exotic extension.

The normal procedure from an attachment is not to copy-paste or print directly from the email but to save as.

If the document’s author has protected it against copying and printing, they have used a password for that purpose, and theoretically, one cannot perform those operations without knowing the password.

Some software, most often paid or online converters, boast the opposite; do a search on "unlock pdf".

    Thank you.
In the end, he asked his lawyer to send him the file in regular PDF format. Which she did.
    Thank you.
    Best regards.
