I would like to know what the flames next to my friends in my friends list mean, even though they are people I never talk to.

    Let’s perhaps just remind everyone here that, on this forum as in "real" life, basic formulas of minimal politeness (beyond the free pre-printed "Hello") such as "Please" - "Thank you in advance" - "Kind regards" and any other variants on the same theme are greatly appreciated.

    And this is for at least one good reason in addition to the notion of universal civility: the people who respond here are volunteers to whom we are asking for a free service.
