Hello,

since I updated to this version of Firefox (122.0), I’ve been trying to close Firefox when I perform a cleanup with CCleaner Free (v6.20.10897) but I can't close Firefox even when forcing it. Is this due to CCleaner or Firefox? Do you have any other observations about this problem? Thank you very much. Sincerely.

Hello,

I always use Wise Disk Cleaner by default.

If Firefox doesn't want to close when CCleaner requests it, it might be that Firefox has a problem.

Check if Firefox is open in the task manager when you close it.

If you have allowed notifications in Firefox, delete them.

Hi

CCleaner is no longer recommended; it is not without flaws. At first, it had fewer issues and was easier to control.

Thank you Paul, but which free cleaning software can we use then?

Best regards, Matou83

Thank you arobase94, I just tested it, but given my knowledge, I'm hesitant to check certain boxes: if I check "browser traces," will the bookmarks be kept or not, and will the temporary files be properly deleted? No detailed explanation???

Best regards, matou83

Hello,

Browser history is when you surf the Internet, so you can delete it. Bookmarks won’t be affected if you have properly saved them on Firefox. Temporary files can also be deleted.

Thank you panth33ra, and are these temporary files included in the main menu of Wise Disk Cleaner, if you know it? Or do you need to go into the options?

Thank you in advance. matou83

Hello

That's a bit of the problem.

Those who know Windows well enough to be able to test the cleaners don't need them, and after the issues some people have had, (especially those who use a lot of software), they have ended up not recommending them if we can't manage on our own when there's a hiccup, because they don't really explain in detail everything that these cleaners do, and we end up having surprises. Firefox initially had no issues, but one day Firefox and CCleaner, as they keep changing and both are doing more and more things, have become hard to use together.

Wise Disk Cleaner, if someone is still using it and knows how to handle it with the software they use, no one can guarantee that tomorrow it won't do the same thing, there are too many updates that go in all directions on all software. And when cleaning Windows, it stubbornly prepares things so much before you decide to use it that it doesn't speed things up anymore.

Windows already does a lot of cleaning, sometimes too much as we like to keep things, and it’s sufficient to crash software or itself as well; with every update, we experience something new.
