Change of LV in the second year of high school
paul -
Hello, I am currently in 10th grade and I had chosen Spanish as my second language in middle school, wanting to take Arabic instead, but my middle school didn't offer it. I didn't have a choice when going to high school after three years of Spanish, so I found it quite logical to continue with Spanish. However, I am not happy at all and I don’t understand anything. I hadn’t noticed that my high school offered the Arabic option, so I wanted to know if I could change my second language in the middle of my 10th grade year (I have some basics in Arabic).

Hello
Ask this question to the deputy principal. He is the only one competent in this area.
What is well conceived is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.

Hello
If the basics in Arabic mean having lived or at least studied in the Arabic language, then yes, it could eventually allow someone to join people who have had three and a half years of Arabic courses directly, but it is very rare to enter mid-course with just basic knowledge. There’s a whole calculation of grades, and we know that the diploma is calculated somewhat, sometimes counting on the second language. This is something to discuss with the educational advisor or the deputy principal; they are used to "seeing many people come and go" and have the experience of watching people succeed or fail in course corrections.
From a personal perspective, if someone is very interested in a subject, it’s a different matter; if they can undergo proper training, we can’t tell someone no, that’s not a good idea. Both languages are spoken in many countries, and one can also leverage that professionally later on.
