Overview of the Illustrator Feather Tool

Hello,

I'm using Illustrator 2023 on Mac and I'm having an issue with the pen tool and the eyedropper.

When I select the pen (P), instead of the pen showing up, I get a small black cross, as if I had the SHIFT key locked on my keyboard, but that's not the case. I checked, the SHIFT key is not locked and the keyboard is indeed set to French. The same goes for the eyedropper; I see a small round target (I) instead of the eyedropper.

I would really like to get back the original previews because I find these not very precise...
