well if you want you can enter a terminal, type: sudo apt-get install htop and there you can properly close anything you want, but better than if you did ALT+F4

Hello, which distribution do you use? On Ubuntu, you can add an applet to your taskbar that allows you to force close an application.

to kill an app, it doesn't work as mentioned above
if the app is visible in KDE, ctrl+alt+esc is enough to click on the app
otherwise
you need to find the process number
$ps -A |grep program name
kill
example with kedit
[@ ~]$ ps -A |grep kedit
5413 ? 00:00:00 kedit
[@abo- ~]$ kill 5413
see you
