Beware of neosurf scams

My wife almost got scammed with this Neosurf payment thing.

Someone is posting car sale ads on Facebook Marketplace.

However, the cars for sale are fraudulent ads, the person pretends to be someone with a disability; in my wife's case, this person was hearing impaired, so it was impossible to communicate by phone, only via SMS.

She gains your trust by chatting for several days, but on the day of the appointment, 3 or 4 days before, she asks you to buy Neosurf payment tickets, claiming that it is completely free between individuals and secure.

She asks for this because she is afraid of fake checks and doesn’t want cash out of fear of being robbed (we're talking about €700, which isn't insignificant).

My wife told her that she would see this after work and that at worst they would go together to the tobacconist to buy the Neosurf tickets.

And that's where the dilemma starts; no, you have to buy the tickets before the appointment and send her photos while hiding the activation codes.

I find this suspicious, so I search online for already used tickets and find photos, I take screenshots and send them to her; now she asks me for the date written at the bottom of the ticket; I take pictures of several tickets purchased that morning and send them in several parts.

Okay, and now she has a fake Neosurf activation link and gives you the steps to follow.

Email address

Ticket codes

And send for activation.

Once sent, you’ve lost your money because the person has collected everything and has absolutely nothing to sell.

Fortunately, I told my wife not to do anything and I was busy playing her part. So she got nothing since the codes didn’t exist.

Now I’ve decided to contact her with another account and strangely the same process, but the vehicle and its seller are now in another city 400 km away. I even have the impression that they are in the city you would want, by the way.
