Problem with MacOsx installation..., error message...

Hello,
Here I am on Win 11 Pro 64, and I followed a tutorial that seems within my reach to install macOS via VirtualBox....
I meticulously followed the video (script in cmd included, which went without issue) but when I click "start" to launch the installation of "Monterey" here's what it returns....:
in memory panic stackschot succeeded **bytes traced 4879(uncompressed 12560)** skipping local kernel core because core file could not be opened prior to panic (error: 0xe00002dB) attempting system restart ... mach reboot
Is there anyone here who could help me?
My PC: MSI Pulse 17 B13v
Thanks in advance for any help....

Hello,
You are not allowed to install MacOS on a PC.
However, the tutorial using not Virtual Box but VMWare Workstation works fine (with Catalina, but it doesn't matter as long as the machine specifications are met), provided that the installation is very resource-intensive and therefore the usage is very slow unless you have a fast processor and at least 16 GB of RAM to be able to dedicate enough to the virtual machine. -
Hello Brucine and thank you for your quick reply.....
Well, you see, I didn't even know that, even for professionals in the field?
Except that virtualization, especially on OSX, has never been tested....
My machine: https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00542349.html?offerId=AR202212130120
Yet the feedback from people who watched the video seems to be positive...
Anyway, would you be kind enough to give me a link to a working tutorial?
Thanks again....

Hi,
This guy recommends doing it this way:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JTNn2CtJ5c
Do you think it's good? You'll notice he only put 4GB of RAM, I should clarify that it's not for gaming but for music applications, virtual instruments, DJing, audio sequencing (no games or video editing, so...)
Do you think 8GB of RAM would be enough?
Thanks for following up....

Hello,
Regarding legality, MacOS, unlike Windows, is not paid for; the licenses are included in the cost of the computer, and Apple’s terms of service clearly prohibit installing MacOS on non-Apple computers.
As for virtualization, to each their own, I use not Virtual Box but VMWare Workstation, which takes up less disk space, is easier to use, and is also a matter of habit; I have virtual machines for Windows XP and Windows 7, Linux Mint 20, and MacOS Catalina.
Depending on the processor and RAM, but also probably other factors like the virtual graphics card, everything running in a virtual machine is slowed down; this is not noticeable in XP or Windows 7, which have low requirements, a little in Linux Mint, and a lot in Catalina (8 GB of RAM with a maximum of 4 dedicated) to the point of making it barely usable with "standard" programs.I am opposed to YouTube tutorials on principle, as it is not a very practical way to follow steps or access links, and also regarding the content, anyone can post anything, I haven't watched it.
The installation of VMWare Workstation is done in a few clicks without any difficulty, each virtual machine includes built-in files allowing the selection of the OS to install...except for MacOS specifically because it is prohibited.
This installation requires a patch for the virtual machine that is not legal, so it is out of the question to post a link here.
But it can also be found easily with a search for installing MacOS Catalina (or Monterey or whatever you want) on VMWare Workstation.Furthermore, by definition, a virtual machine runs under a host OS: while it is possible to allocate a certain amount of RAM to the virtual machine up to a point, there must be enough left for the host to function.
Otherwise, for a computer with limited performance, if one does not close not only the majority of programs on the host but also many more or less useful services running in the background, the execution of the virtual machine is no longer slow, it becomes impossible.

Hello,
Thank you for your detailed explanations....
Yes, for now I'm testing both VirtualBox and VMware....
I even tried a Monterey tutorial with VMware, but modifying the code is obviously not possible....
I did some virtualization a while ago, so I'm a bit struggling...
I was tempted to allocate 16 GB to the virtual machine, but I understand what
you're saying about the host machine....
Actually, it's just because my audio equipment only works
with Android or OSX.
I will see if it doesn't work within 2/3 days max, I will try on Linux...
Thanks for the help, I’ll let you know if I succeeded and my thoughts on the overall
behavior of the virtual and host system.
I apologize for my request for a link that does not correspond, and I understand
well the guidelines of the site....
Thank you again for the help and the information....
I will keep the topic open and I commit not to post any links....

I read your link quickly regarding the RAM of the graphics card for the PC; if the RAM slider in VMWare goes up to 16 GB and the rest allows Windows to run, everything is fine.
On the virtualization side, it must of course be enabled in the BIOS (not the Windows hypervisor, which is useless for third-party virtualizers).
On Android, you can always consider an emulator or, under Windows 11, the Android subsystem if your applications are eligible.
The famous patch is linked in the tutorials; it depends on the VMWare version (you need to look for another one suitable if it's a different VMWare version), it does not depend on whether MacOS is Monterey or Catalina as long as VMWare Workstation Player is at least 16 and the patch is in its latest version.

Hey,
So it was intense, I'm on Ventura now, the VMware tools installed, the graphics card set to 128 MB so....
For the settings in VMware, I set 4 cores, 8 GB of RAM. I'll see how it goes because I admit I'm a bit lost here lol (Mac aside from the software functions that I used in a previous training as a production assistant 30 years ago, and by the way, the Mac broke down back then ROFL....
For optimizing the host, it's not too much of a problem, if I want to keep it simple, I create another user and kill the processes, I can do that.....
I will share my feedback based on usage, but in relation to my specific uses, namely software sequencers that only work under OSX
Virtual synthesizers and live DJing software...
If it works for me, I'll buy a Mac later....
Thanks again for your help and patience.....

You're right, 8GB of RAM seems short and 128MB of RAM makes the display slow...
-
Well, I upgraded the RAM to 16 GB before launching OSX, but it's even worse, although it doesn't hinder the use of 11...
It's the limitation of the graphics RAM that is causing the problem....
That's enough for today; I'll try again later in the week with different settings, and if it's no better, I might consider buying a tablet or a used Mac....

Good evening,
I would like to know if, in the case of a virtual installation of Windows and Linux under VMware, there are no issues with Grub or the Master Boot Record?
Thank you for confirming.....
-
On the previous question, I only tested with a total of 8 GB of RAM (so at best 4 for the virtual machine, a horror, while all other OSs are fine with it).
I can't remember what the maximum graphics memory managed by VMWare is, but VMWare only supports a ridiculous amount of graphics memory by default if you don't install the VMWare Tools.
They are available without issue for Windows or Linux, for Mac I can't remember, to be checked.
On the second question, installing a virtual machine of any kind is not a dual boot and does not affect the boot sector of the host machine; the client virtual machine manages to launch the boot sector specific to the virtualized OS without us having to worry about it and without interference.
