WhatsApp profile home disappeared on Android

Hello, I successfully backed up my chats, but my WhatsApp profile has disappeared from my Android home screen (Xiaomi Redmi Note 10). I have the app icon, I click on it, and it directly takes me to the "Archived" link. Should I uninstall/reinstall WhatsApp to get my profile back? If so, will I lose my data even if the chats are archived? I want to clarify that my account is active...

    Hello,

Let's do it again with the same steps: you need to uninstall WhatsApp, create only the folder structure, copy the Backups folder from the backup before reinstalling WhatsApp, unless there is a Google backup that will then be restored automatically. Otherwise, even if the data is copied, only the groups will be transferred but empty. See here and related links:

Thank you for your response. In the end, I'm not going to do anything. WhatsApp seems to work like that. What do you recommend for backup frequency? Doesn't it consume too much memory? Should ephemeral messages be disabled in the settings?

There is no backup frequency, even if there is no Google synchronization (since it is instantaneous), WhatsApp automatically creates a backup in the Backups folder on the phone.

In other words, whether there is a SIM card or a phone number or not, the problem only exists if the old phone has disappeared, no longer starts, or is broken with no screen access since one is needed to authorize the USB connection: otherwise, we connect it via USB to a PC, retrieve the Backups folder that we create on the new one and change the subject.

Now, assuming that there is no Google synchronization and the recovery conditions are not met, there is no miracle remedy: everyone has their own use of WhatsApp, sometimes it only involves private groups with low traffic; but unlike what can be set up on a PC, no automatic backup exists.

A number of applications allow for phone-to-PC backup, but as if on purpose, rarely WhatsApp conversations when they are free; even if that is the case, it doesn't add anything to the discussion: it can perfectly be done by copying the Backups from the phone to the PC via USB, but in both cases it is a voluntary process that in practice no one does every day if that is the need.
