Hello Didier,
Thank you Didier for replying but that’s not my request.
I’m not talking about the arrow, I know it’s meant to indicate a shortcut.
I’m talking about the square here in red with the app’s icon in tiny tiny tiny size.
My request is how to remove this square and get the app icon back to a normal size.
Best regards
It's a crazy story
I uninstalled WhatsApp.
I ran CCleaner to clean everything up, then restarted.
Using your link, I reloaded WhatsApp.
Following your advice, I put an icon on the desktop.
It's all nice except that its name is Update.
It doesn’t have the executable; it doesn’t do anything when I click on it.
For your information, I am on Windows 11 Professional
Version 22h2
Thank you for your help.
I am desperate.
Please, did you see my red box with a tiny image of WhatsApp?
Do you know how to enlarge the WhatsApp image inside this box?
Thanks again for all your advice
Yes, it's completely crazy.
I used WhatsApp as an example, but I have the same issue with other applications.
I just called a friend; he is also on Windows 11.
He indeed has the blue square like me, but the image inside is fine.
Whereas for me, I need a magnifying glass, and unfortunately, the magnifying glass doesn't come with Windows.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me.
Have a good end of the day.
Best regards.
Thank you as well, Didi64.
Always happy to receive advice.
Have a nice end of the day.
Best regards.
Hello,
I have my little idea.
Whatsapp installed from the Microsoft Store on W11.
To create the shortcut:
Keyboard key Windows + R or right-click on the Start button - on the taskbar).
Copy-paste --►shell:appsfolder
Scroll down the list to Whatsapp.
Right-click on Whatsapp then create a shortcut.

In this example, the background of the Whatsapp icon is purple.
Because it's my customized color that I set. (in Settings... personalization... color).

So, we can change the color, but there will always be a background with W11 and the Whatsapp app installed from the store.
Hello Johnny

>> Well no
BUT....
I just realized that I have version 2.2310.5 that I don’t know where I got and that I’m using.
Thank you Johnny,
Yes, I installed Whatsapp via the Microsoft store on Windows 11
I followed your instructions but my problem persists.
Just to clarify, Whatsapp works fine, it's just the display of the icon on my desktop.
I should also mention that I have the same issue with all the shortcuts.
The image is tiny in the middle of the square.
Thank you for your help
Best regards
